After a 15-year hiatus, the beloved *Skate* franchise is back with a new game simply titled *Skate*. Currently available in a limited release, this skateboarding game captures the spirit of skate culture and encourages creativity beyond just performing standard tricks. Players can enjoy classic off-board moves like the Cannonball and Dive Roll, but also pull off unique stunts, such as launching off ramps and soaring through the air.
You’ll encounter various tricks throughout daily challenges in Skate 4. Some help you advance in the game – like opening up new areas for skating, improving your reputation in neighborhoods, or earning Rip Coins. A common and useful trick is the Christ Air. It’s often required for quests, but it’s also a great move to show off to friends. Here’s a guide on how to perform the Christ Air.
How to Christ Air in Skate 4
Okay, so the Christ Air is awesome – it’s all about getting air without touching the board with your feet! It’s one of the first new tricks they added, and it’s different from stuff you do *on* your board. You actually need to launch off something high, like a ramp or ledge, to pull it off. If you try to do it while still riding, you’ll just end up doing a Foot Plant instead, and it won’t look right!
To do a Christ Air in Skate 4, your character grabs the roller, extends their arms and legs, and then lands with flair. On Xbox, perform this trick by pressing R2 + B. PlayStation players should press L2 + Circle.
Keep in mind that controls can shift depending on the stance you’ve set.

The controls for the Christ Air trick depend on your character’s stance. If you’re in Goofy stance, use R2 + B. If you’re in Regular stance, use L2 + B. You can adjust your stance settings in the game’s menu under Gameplay > Controls. Practice is key to landing this trick, and The P-Hus in Gullcrest Village is a great place to do it. For a smoother landing and extra style, try combining the Christ Air with tricks like In Air Tuck and flips.
Beyond basic grabs, you can also try tricks like the Coffin while you’re riding. To go faster, practice pumping – it’s a great skill to learn. And for a complete guide to tricks and how to do them, skateboarders can find everything they need on Skatepedia, accessible through the side menu.
