How to Reach Stone Spire Hideout Altar of Reflection in Ghost of Yotei

Go to the Rock Formation, which marks the location of the Stone Spire Hideout, close to the Sarubetsu River (as seen in the image above).

Look for rocky handholds that allow you to climb to the top of a small stone platform.

After climbing to the top, jump to the next platform. Then, use the grappling hook to swing from the tree branch and grab the handholds on the opposite side.

Climb up again and use the grappling hook once more to reach the top.

Turn right, and you’ll notice a branch extending out from the steep cliff face. Leap to that branch, and then jump once more to get to the following platform.

Circle around, then walk across the log to find a small wooden stump that has a dead body next to it.

There’s a message on the wooden stump that warns, “Keep it Down! Don’t wake the bear, particularly with music-he really dislikes it.” Swipe left on the touchpad to play Atsu’s shamisen, which will create music. Just remember, this only works if you’re standing directly beside the sign. If you leave this platform, you’ll need to climb back up to make the music happen.

It doesn’t really matter which song you pick – even Atsu’s Song, the very first melody you learn at the beginning of Ghost of Yotei, will do just fine.

If successful, a cutscene will show the shamisen awakening a mysterious ronin who was sleeping on a large stone cliff opposite Atsu-the “bear” mentioned in the note. Annoyed at being disturbed, the ronin will explain he needs to get to a duel at the Great Lake and offers Atsu his resting place.

Press R2 near the cliff’s edge to climb down using the handholds and the grappling hook point.

Go around the cliff where the ronin is resting, and you’ll find a wooden ladder near some stone statues with yellow heads. This ladder leads up to where he’s resting, but it’s only lowered after you’ve woken him with a song. Remember this!

Ascend the ladder to locate the Altar of Reflection directly ahead. Show your respect by bowing to gain a skill point.

Here’s a great place to use your Spyglass to find hidden locations on the Ghost of Yotei map.
