How to Complete Abundant Evil Myth in Nioh 3

After finishing the first area of the Crucible and beating Jokutsu-Baba in Nioh 3, the Abundant Evil myth will become available. As you climb Hamamatsu Castle, Honda Tadakatsu will ask you to investigate Maisaka Post, which has been taken over by Yokai.

Honda will join you for the beginning of this quest. “The Abundant Evil” is a lengthy quest, longer than many of the side missions in Nioh 3, and the following guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough.

Abundant Evil Myth in Nioh 3

To get to Maisaka Post, travel south of Hamamatsu. You’ll find a path leading directly to it. Follow the road heading west, and look for Honda Tadakatsu – he’s waiting outside. After speaking with him, go inside and defeat all the Yokai enemies in the base.

You won’t find the Yokai in the house on the right until you’ve defeated all the other enemies first. Keep an eye out for enemies on rooftops and use your bow to take them down from a distance – it’s easier than fighting them while also dodging rocks! After you’ve cleared out all the Yokai and secured the area, speak with Honda. He’ll tell you about The Haunting Caves.

Your next goal is to head south of Maisaka to the cave and eliminate the Yokai inside. Follow the single road leading south – it will take you to the Haunting Caves Shrine.

This cave is packed with items that are worth collecting. Each one gives your character a helpful bonus or advantage.

Venture through the dungeon until you reach the final area, the Caves, where you’ll encounter the boss, Hino-enma.

How to Beat Hino-enma in Nioh 3

Okay, so this boss is definitely one of the tougher ones you’ll run into early on. He’s got some basic attacks you can parry or block, but watch out for his grab – it’s slow to come out, giving you a chance to roll away. The really tricky part is he has attacks that can totally lock you up, leaving you helpless for a few seconds. Seriously, those are the moves you need to avoid, because he’ll follow up with an attack you can’t block, and that’ll hurt a lot!

During the unblockable attack, she’ll move backwards and attempt to fly directly at you. Using a Burst Attack repeatedly is a good way to deal damage to the boss and fill up their stagger meter.

Once the fight moves to its second stage, your main goal should be to position yourself directly below her whenever she takes to the air. She gains a new attack where she fires water orbs around herself, which will damage you and create lingering areas that slow down your Ki recovery. You can use Ki Pulse to clear these areas and restore normal Ki recovery speed.

Once you’ve beaten the boss, locate the Sudamas. Then, return to the Maisaka Post Shrine and speak with Honda to finish the quest.
