In Mewgenics, you’ll discover many different items that can help your cats. Most of these items will boost their stats, improve their combat abilities, or remove negative effects. One item that might seem strange is the broken magic mirror. It initially appears to weaken a cat, but it actually has a hidden benefit. This guide will explain everything you need to know about it.
How to Get the Broken Mirror in Mewgenics
In the game, players can receive the ‘Broken Mirror’ as part of a side quest. To start the quest, you need to find and give Dr. Beanies five cats with unique health issues – like mutations, birth defects, or parasites. As a reward, Dr. Beanies will give you one of his inventions.
Some items in this game add challenges to your runs. For example, the Broken Magic Mirror brings really bad luck to your team during events. It also adds +2 Thorns, and it’s cursed – meaning once you put it on a cat, you can’t take it off.
It seems like Dr. Beanies sends out their inventions in a random order, based on what I’ve seen.
Don’t worry if you lose or discard an invention! Keep bringing Dr. Beanies cats that fit what he’s looking for, and he’ll eventually replace the item. It might take some time, especially if you haven’t collected all of his other inventions yet.
How to Complete the Broken Mirror Side Quest in Mewgenics
To finish this side quest, you’ll need to have a cat equipped with the Broken Magic Mirror when you take it on an adventure. Be aware that having the mirror equipped will cause bad luck, making your cat more prone to injuries, damage, or getting into extra fights between battles.
To lessen the negative effects of the Broken Mirror, give it to one of your toughest cats who can attack from a distance. This keeps them safer during battles, and their strong stats mean they’re less likely to be seriously affected by the bad luck it causes.
Image via Steam When you start trying to invent things, the first thing to do is check where you need to go. Some early inventions just need you to explore a small area, like an alley. But later inventions might require you to travel to places in the later parts of the game, which can be much harder. By then, it’s helpful to have some powerful cats to assist you!
Magic Mirror (Fixed) Reward, Explained
If you successfully complete a run with the broken Magic Mirror, you’ll receive the repaired version as a reward. The fixed Magic Mirror has a 20% chance to bounce enemy projectiles back at them. Plus, whenever your cat is defeated, a helpful Spookie will appear. While not super strong, Spookies can buy you some time while your Cleric revives or heals your other cats.
