Finishing the ‘Collapsed Passageway’ side quest in Final Fantasy 7 Remake lets you obtain a powerful Materia early on. During chapter 6, ‘Light the Way,’ you’ll spot a blue orb indicating a support Materia at the end of a bridge. However, simply walking across isn’t enough. Here’s a guide on how to get the ‘Collapsed Passageway’ Materia in FF7 Remake.
FF7 Remake ‘Collapsed Passageway’ Discovery: How to Get the Elemental Materia in Chapter 6
Chapter 6 involves redirecting power from three large Sun Lamps to operate bridges and doors, allowing you to reach Section H and then Reactor 5. This area has three levels – Upper, Mid, and Lower – and is organized with pillars labeled by number and section letter, like G-05.
You’ll find the FF7 Materia at the end of a broken bridge on the Lower Level, between pillars G-05 and H-07. Trying to cross the bridge will cause it to collapse, so you’ll have to find another route. This will unlock a new location on your map called ‘Collapsed Passageway’.
Okay, so I’ve figured out the best time to grab the Materia is right after you turn off Sun Lamps two and three. Getting to it is a bit tricky though! When you’re heading towards Sun Lamp three, look for a ladder on pillar H-06, Mid-Level – it’ll take you down to the Lower Level. Be prepared for a fight because there are two Queen Grashstrikes down there! Luckily, they’re really weak to ice, so definitely use ice spells to fill up their Stagger meters and take them down. Once they’re defeated, you can move that bridge piece in the corner to connect pillars H-06 and H-07, which opens up the path!
As you push the bridge, lower it completely, then grab the MP Up Materia located on top.
If you go around to the far side of area H-07 on the Lower Level, you’ll find yourself on the opposite side of the collapsed passageway. When you collect the treasure, you’ll discover it’s the Elemental Materia – one of the most powerful items in the game, though it takes a long time to level up using AP.
Equip these to weapons or armor that have two or more available slots. They can add elemental attacks or summon abilities to your weapons, or boost your armor’s resistance to specific elements.
