How to Complete Vegeta's Secret Maneuver in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO

As a seasoned Dragon Ball fan and veteran of countless battles against Great Ape Vegeta, let me tell you this: the fight against him in Sparking! ZERO is no walk in the park, even for someone who’s been around the block a few times.

In the Battle mode of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, most fights are generally straightforward. But in the initial chapter of Goku’s Saga, players will encounter the “Vegeta’s Hidden Technique” episode, where they must figure out how to defeat Great Ape Vegeta.

In the same vein as the cartoon series and comic books, Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta is an incredibly formidable combatant, capable of eradicating a health bar or more with certain attacks. Many players of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO may find it challenging to overcome Great Ape Vegeta at the outset, owing not only to his immense power but also their own inexperience with the game.

For those finding it tough to conquer Great Ape Vegeta, you can make things simpler by adjusting the difficulty level before starting. On the stage select screen, press L2 (PlayStation) or LT (Xbox). Since there are no additional conditions for clearing Vegeta’s Secret Technique, there’s no real penalty for winning on an easier setting.

One successful approach for defeating Great Ape Vegeta primarily relies on extensive blocking and skillful utilization of the game’s Sparking mechanic. To block, simply hold onto the R1 button (PlayStation) or RB button (Xbox). You can trigger Sparking mode by holding down R2 (PlayStation) or RT (Xbox), but be aware that this will only function if you have accumulated one Skill point. The Sparking mode activates when Goku’s ki bar, located in the top left corner of the screen, turns pink.

Typically, Vegeta initiates battles with a Ki Blast, so it’s wise for players to initially block this and then slowly prepare their key. Once Vegeta advances, they should step back until they find some safety, and then keep charging. Ideally, the Skill Count Bar will reach one by now, enabling players to activate Sparking mode. If Vegeta seems to be charging his Ki too, there’s a chance he might enter Sparking mode as well. In that case, players should swiftly launch a regular Ki Blast to disrupt him, as the final thing they’d want is to face Vegeta’s Super Galick Gun attack.

When the Sparking mode is active, players should move in and consistently hit Vegeta with basic attacks (Square for PlayStation or X for Xbox), occasionally pressing R1 on PlayStation or RB on Xbox to evade launching him away. After the Sparking mode finishes, they should pull back and then repeating this pattern until the fight concludes. It’s advisable to maintain a safe distance while charging, as Great Ape Vegeta’s grab attack can deal an excessive amount of damage. Players may get caught by it once or twice, but repeated encounters will likely lead to defeat.

As a gamer, when I’ve got some spare Skill points stacked up, I’d recommend unleashing the Kaioken just before activating Sparking mode. This move gives a massive power-up to my attacks, plus a handful of extra bonuses too!
