In Hytale, crafting isn’t just about collecting materials and putting them into a workbench. You often need to upgrade those workbenches first to be able to create things. Getting Storm Leather is similar – you’ll need to go through a specific process to obtain it.
This guide explains how to get Storm Leather in Hytale, including the crafting station you’ll need to turn it into useful items.
How to Obtain Storm Leather in Hytale
Storm Leather isn’t found naturally; players have to make it themselves. Here’s what you’ll need to craft one piece:
- Cindercloth Scraps
- Shadoweave Scraps
- Linen Scraps
- Heavy Leather
Linen Scraps are the easiest item to find. They’re dropped by common Skeletons which appear throughout the game world.
You can find Cindercloth Scraps most easily in the Volcanic and Dino Biomes. These areas are often islands surrounded by water. The creatures that drop these scraps usually live in caves near lava, so be careful around it – you don’t want to get burned!
You can get Shadoweave Scraps by defeating Barbarians in the Snow Mountain area. Attacking their forts is a fast way to collect them.
To make Storm Leather, players need to gather four of each required resource. First, though, they’ll need to have both a Workbench and a Tanning Rack available.
In Hytale, players usually build a Workbench and Tanning Rack early in the game. However, to learn how to make Storm Leather, they’ll also need to upgrade their Workbench to level 3.
Upgrading requires various materials. Tier 2 needs 30 Copper Ingots, 20 Iron Ingots, and 20 Linen Scraps. Tier 3, which unlocks the Storm Leather recipe, is more demanding, requiring 30 Thorium Ingots, 20 Cobalt Ingots, 30 Heavy Leather, 50 Shadoweave Scraps, and 25 Essence of Fire.
Once completed, players can choose the Storm Leather recipe at the Workbench and begin crafting. Keep in mind that the Workbench only uses materials found in Chests within a limited area – specifically, those within 12 blocks horizontally and 4 blocks vertically above the crafting station, and all chests must be at ground level.
Storm Leather recipes no longer work in worlds created before the 2.0 update. To get them working, please restart your game after updating and create a new world using a V2 seed. Keep in mind that V2 worlds are still in testing and may have issues.
