How to Craft Weapons and Armor in No Rest for the Wicked

I’m really getting into No Rest for the Wicked, and I’ve noticed you collect tons of stuff like Saltstone as you play. A big part of the game seems to be using those resources to craft things – mostly weapons, armor, and even decorations, which is pretty cool!

The game lets you create many different weapons and armor pieces, allowing for diverse character builds. However, crafting these items isn’t always straightforward.

Here’s a guide to crafting in No Rest for the Wicked, covering everything you need to create any item you desire.

Unlocking Crafting Recipes

To create something, you first need to learn the recipe for it. These recipes are unlocked by finding Research Papers. There are many different recipes to discover!

After you collect Research Papers, you can use them at the Scribe Table in Sacrament’s town center to learn new crafting recipes. The number of papers needed varies depending on the recipe, so it’s a good idea to gather a lot of them.

Playing with friends can be really helpful because when one of them learns how to craft something new, it also becomes less expensive for you to learn it.

You can learn new recipes by visiting the scribe table. Choose the kind of recipe you want, then pay the required Research Papers to get a random recipe of that type. If a friend has already unlocked a recipe you want, you can choose to learn it directly from them instead.

You might need to improve your town before you can make certain recipes. For example, to craft Ash Soothed Daggers, you’ll need an upgraded Smithy from Fillmore – unless you get lucky and find the recipe randomly.

Crafting Items at Workbenches

Once you’ve learned a new recipe, you can make the item at one of the crafting tables located around town. Check the recipe at the scribe table to find out which crafting bench you’ll need.

Most weapons are made at either the Forged Anvil or Crude Anvil. However, items like bows need to be crafted at the Builder’s Workbench. You can usually find these workbenches near the merchants who sell them – for example, the Forged Anvil is located in Fillmore’s Smithy.

Since workshop benches aren’t always readily available, it’s helpful to know how to build your own and set them up at home.

After setting up your workbench, use it to choose what you want to create. Then, pick the specific item. A list of the materials needed to build it will appear on the crafting screen.

Crafting the Answered Prayer bow, for example, needs Iron Ingots, Spruce Planks, and Human Hands. You’ll find these materials scattered throughout the game world, and often you’ll need tools to gather them.

Choose an item to make it if you have the necessary materials. It will then appear in your inventory. You can then use Embers to upgrade these regular weapons into magical ones by enchanting them.
