How to Cure All Status Effects in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Status effects in Pokemon Legends: Z-A have been adjusted compared to other Pokemon games. Because PLZA uses a new, real-time battle system, the old rules for status effects wouldn’t work well, so changes were made to ensure they remain fair and useful in battles.

This guide explains all the status conditions in *Legends: Z-A*. You’ll learn how each one works, how to heal your Pokémon if they’re affected, and how to use these conditions to your advantage in battle. Here’s a detailed look.

All Status Conditions And How To Heal Them

In *Pokemon Legends: Z-A*, there are six different status conditions that can affect Pokemon. The details of each condition are shown in the table below.

Status Condition Effect How to Cure
Paralyzed Reduces a Pokemon’s movement speed. Paralyze Heal Cheri Berry
Drowsy (Sleep) Increases the cooldown time of Pokemon moves after they are used. Awakening Chesto Berry
Poisoned Deals damage over time. Antidote Pecha Berry
Burned Deals damage over time and reduces the effectiveness of physical moves. Burn Heal Rawst Berry
Frozen Freezes a Pokemon solid, making it unable to use any moves or abilities for the duration. Ice Heal Aspear Berry
Confused Makes the Pokemon unable to move properly. Persim Berry Heal Powder

Full Heal, Full Restore, Lum Berry, and Lumiose Galette can be used to cure all status conditions.

The move Safeguard protects Pokémon from all status conditions when used in battle. You can earn the Safeguard TM by reaching Rank F in Royale Z-A as part of the main story in *Pokémon Legends: Z-A*.

Poison and Burn are both extremely useful against Alpha Pokemon and Rogue Megas.

How Does Paralysis Work in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

If a Pokémon becomes paralyzed, it moves slower when you’re exploring. This means it takes longer to get from one place to another. Importantly, being paralyzed doesn’t prevent a Pokémon from using its moves – it just slows down how quickly it travels. This slower movement isn’t related to the Pokémon’s Speed stat.

Electric-type Pokemon are immune to Paralyze.

How Does Drowsy (Sleep) Work in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

In *Pokemon Legends: Z-A*, the Sleep status has been changed to Drowsy. When a Pokemon is Drowsy, its moves take longer to recharge, but it can still move and attack normally. This status is applied instantly when a Pokemon is hit by a move that usually puts it to sleep, such as Hypnosis.

How Does Poison Work in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Poison slowly damages a Pokémon over time, dealing harm about every three seconds. This damage continues until the Pokémon is knocked out.

Badly Poisoned is a stronger form of the Poison condition, causing more damage with each passing turn. Moves like Toxic can inflict this more severe status effect.

Poison and Steel-type Pokemon are immune to Poison.

How Does Burn Work in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Burn causes damage to a Pokémon over time, happening about every three seconds, much like the Poison status. It also makes physical attacks less effective, and the burn continues until the Pokémon is knocked out.

Fire-type Pokemon are immune to Burn.

How Does Freeze Work in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

When a Pokémon is frozen, it can’t move or use any abilities for about 10 seconds. However, if you use a Fire-type attack on a frozen Pokémon, it will thaw out right away, ending the frozen status.

Ice-type Pokemon are immune to Freeze.

How Does Confusion Work in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

When a Pokémon is confused, it might not move where you tell it to. If you select a move that requires movement, a circle will show where the Pokémon *should* go. However, if confused, the Pokémon has a chance of moving in a different direction, almost like it’s ignoring your command.

Unlike other games, a Confused Pokemon will not hurt itself in its Confusion.

Pokemon with the ability Own Tempo cannot be affected by Confusion.
