How to Cure Frostbite in ARC Raiders (Cold Snap)

The new ‘Cold Snap’ map in ARC Raiders introduces a dangerous frostbite effect that can harm players. Staying in the cold for too long causes your raider to accumulate snow, which steadily reduces their health by one point per second. While this map offers great rewards, you’ll need to learn how to avoid or treat frostbite to get the most out of your runs. This guide will show you how to cure and prevent frostbite in ARC Raiders.

How to Cure Frostbite in ARC Raiders (Cold Snap Map Condition)

In ARC Raiders, players are vulnerable to frostbite while playing in the Cold Snap map condition. If you stay exposed to the elements for about a minute and thirty-five seconds, snow will begin to build up on your raider, and they’ll start shivering. Eventually, this will cause continuous damage – one point of health lost per second.

After suffering from frostbite, there are two courses of action players can take.

You can continue using bandages, Vita Spray, or Vita Shots to restore your health, but remember this is only temporary. You’ll still take constant, small amounts of damage while exposed to the cold.

In ARC Raiders, the best way to recover from frostbite is to go inside a building or any structure with a roof. You’ll know it’s working when your character audibly sighs with relief. Stepping back out into the cold will cause them to gasp, letting you know frostbite is starting to build up again.

You’ll be able to see snow building up on your character, showing how much frostbite they’ve accumulated. When you find shelter, the snow will gradually melt, and the frostbite damage will stop right away.

To stay healthy, carry plenty of healing items like Bandages, Herbal Bandages, Sterilized Bandages, Vita Shots, or Vita Spray. These will help you recover lost health.

Instead, you can use the Combat MK.2 Augment, which slowly restores 1 HP every five seconds as long as you aren’t taking damage – even minor damage like frostbite will stop the healing. This is really helpful for regaining health when you’re safe, so you won’t have to use as many healing items.

How to Remove Frostbite Instantly in ARC Raiders

If you get Frostbite while playing ARC Raiders, there’s a surprising way to get rid of it quickly: you can intentionally set your character on fire! It sounds strange, but it works. You can stand in the flames of an activated Baron Husk, or use a throwable item like a Blaze Grenade or Fireball Burner.

When your raider catches fire, let the flames burn out on their own, then quickly use healing items and a shield recharger to restore health. This might seem strange, but it will instantly stop the frostbite damage and let your raider travel farther without needing to find cover.

Setting a raider on fire will wear down your shield’s protection. Only use fire to stop frostbite if your shield is stronger than half-full; otherwise, you risk breaking it.
