How to Defeat Bloomreaper Raid in Borderlands 4

The Borderlands games are known for their challenging end-game content, like tough raid bosses and waves of enemies, which encourage players to hunt for the best weapons and equipment. The newest game continues this tradition.

Borderlands 4 now features its first raid boss, Bloomreaper the Invincible, added in a recent update. Players who defeat Bloomreaper can earn unique loot, but they’ll need to work quickly and have a strong character build to succeed within the time limit.

In this guide, I’ll cover everything you need to defeat the Bloomreaper, including the best weapons and gear to use, and the unique items it can drop.

Where To Find Bloomreaper The Invincible

Similar to past Borderlands games, the Bloomreaper is a challenging boss you can only fight after completing the main storyline.

After finishing the main game, you can begin the quest to battle Bloomreaper the Invincible. Look for special raid bounty boards in the main safe areas of Kairos to accept the quest. The battle takes place in an area called The Bloom, which is located in the Carcadia Burn region.

Heads up – this fight is designed for players at Level 50. To have the best chance of winning against this tough enemy, make sure you’re equipped with your strongest gear and using powerful character builds.

The area is packed with Creep enemies, but they shouldn’t be a problem if you have good gear. Once you reach the end, a cutscene will begin, introducing the Bloomreaper and starting the boss fight.

How To Prepare For Bloomreaper The Invincible

Defeating the Bloomreaper, or ‘farming’ it for loot, depends heavily on the Vault Hunter you choose to use. There are many different factors that come into play, but your character is the biggest one.

All four characters are viable here, but it’s best to prepare builds focused on quickly defeating single bosses – something that makes those fights easy and efficient. Amon might need a little more build optimization, but you should be able to find something that works well for him too.

For this fight, the Armored Bod or Ceramic Bod weapon, combined with Torgue Sticky Rounds, is a great choice. It’s one of the strongest weapons in Borderlands 4 and works well with any character. You can get it by defeating the Axemaul boss in the Toils of Spoiling Vis Mine, located in the Carcadia Burn District.

How To Defeat Bloomreaper The Invincible

Unlike many raid bosses that require complex strategies or puzzles, the Bloomreaper is relatively straightforward. However, be ready to deal with frequent knockback effects during the fight.

When the fight starts, the Bloomreaper can’t be hurt until you destroy all the Vile crystals around it, and the glowing orb that appears when they’re broken.

You can tell when a knockback attack is coming because red circles appear on the ground. The Bloomreaper will use knockback immediately after the third circle appears.

After you break all the crystals, the Bloomreaper will cover the central platform with dangerous thorns, then relocate to the smaller platforms around the arena.

Using equipment or abilities that inflict area-of-effect damage is a good way to quickly break the Vile crystals, ultimately saving you time.

This is the point where it can start to take damage. How much damage it takes will depend on your Vault Hunter and how you’ve built your character.

Players using characters like Harlowe can quickly inflict a lot of damage with the Chroma Accelerator build. However, characters like Vex and Amon might need to play more aggressively, utilizing their jetpack to stay near the action and move on and off the platform.

The Bloomreaper will keep pushing you back if you’re on the same level as it, so avoid standing still while trying to deal damage, no matter which Vault Hunter you play as.

Dealing enough damage to the Bloomreaper’s eye will stun it, giving you a chance to perform a strong grappling attack while it’s down.

Be careful not to fall from the platforms while trying to maneuver in the air – it’s easy to die from these falls, so pay attention to where you are.

Half Health Phase

When the Bloomreaper reaches around 50% health, it will briefly become immune to damage and fill the arena with poisonous gas. This gas makes it more difficult to spot the platforms you need to grab onto.

It’s best to use a Repkit to restore your health or Action Skill now, while the enemy is weak.

If you participate in the Fight for Your Life event, you can eliminate weaker enemies quickly. However, this depends on whether you initially left them alive and how rapidly your FFYL meter depletes.

Bloomreaper The Invincible Rewards

The Bloomreaper boss has unique loot, but the amount you get depends on how quickly you defeat it – the game shows your time throughout the battle. After defeating the Bloomreaper, you’ll find the rewards in the chests that appear.

Once you beat the Bloomreaper on UVH 5, you’ll unlock Ultimate Vault Hunter 6 mode.
