Here’s a breakdown of crucial information regarding Maluca, The First Berserker Khazan: Learn about his vulnerabilities, strategies for an effortless conquest.
This way, you have all the essential details on Maluca, including his weak points and simple tactics to vanquish him.
In the initial part of The First Berserker Khazan, it’s generally agreed that Maluca poses a significant challenge. While other bosses such as Viper and Volbaino might seem more formidable, Maluca is exceptionally tough in its own right. It stands out among the game’s bosses for its high level of difficulty.
In a significant post-release update, game developer Neople decided to significantly tone down the difficulty of the boss character known as Maluca due to its immense challenge for some players. However, even after these adjustments, Maluca remains noticeably more challenging than earlier bosses in the game. This is because each of Maluca’s attacks inflicts an enormous amount of damage, and he is one of the rare bosses in The First Berserker with self-healing abilities.
Luckily, vanquishing Maluca becomes manageable once you understand the best strategies for thwarting its deadliest assaults. Here’s an extensive tutorial on overcoming Maluca within The First Berserker Khazan.
How To Unlock Maluca in The First Berserker Khazan?
In the mission titled “Veiled Knives,” Maluca stands as one of the primary antagonists that Khazan must overcome. Originally, Maluca was the head of the Knivesveil, a position he held with kindness and benevolence towards his people. Although he had strong dislike for loyalists and the Emperor, his hostility was not unjustified, as he was recognized for his fairness and would only resort to violence when it was truly necessary. However, after his trip to El Ravaca, Maluca underwent a transformation. He ceased being the compassionate leader and turned into a merciless figure who ruthlessly eliminated anyone who opposed him, including his own followers.
In the heat of battle, Maluca masterfully switches between two distinct arsenals: a pair of massive Two-Handed Swords, and a duo of agile Curved Short Swords. Initially, he wields the heavy swords, though they move sluggishly, inflicting substantial damage. However, when engulfed by Chaos, Maluca trades these for his swift katanas, drastically altering the rhythm of the fight. Notably, this boss can mend his wounds during combat, unless Khazan manages to intervene. Moreover, Maluca is equipped with a series of multi-strike attacks, some of which are potent enough to instantly defeat you.
In The First Berserker Khazan, similar to many human adversaries, Maluca’s primary vulnerability lies in his resilience or stamina. Just like Khazan, Maluca heavily depends on his stamina meter to perform attacks. This makes him quite susceptible to being knocked off balance. Additionally, compared to Viper, successfully parrying Maluca’s assaults is relatively straightforward if one can grasp the timing correctly.
Tips To Easily Defeat Maluca
Maluca is highly vulnerable to both Poison and Lightning attacks. It appears that Fire is also effective against this boss. However, if your goal is to defeat the boss swiftly, opt for the Poison attack. For a smoother encounter with the boss, consider equipping either a Spear or dual wielding weapons.
In The First Berserker Khazan, it’s free to adjust your Skill Points. The only thing that requires Gold is the Primeval Orb of Regression, used for respec-ing Khazan’s attributes. You can get this orb from the Bard for 10,000 Gold and then specialize in a new weapon, like the Spear, which makes Maluca much easier to handle. We suggest going with the Spear for optimal results.
In battling Maluca, your main strategy should be to maintain a defensive stance initially, looking for or even creating an opportunity to counterattack. Maluca tends to falter easily, making it possible to exploit his multi-hit combos by parrying them, leaving him open for follow-up attacks. However, predicting the right moments to parry can be quite challenging. That’s where the Phantom Heatwave skill proves useful. Here’s a simplified guide on how to quickly conquer Maluca in The First Berserker Khazan:
1. Start by adopting a defensive posture until an opportunity to counterattack arises.
2. Take advantage of Maluca’s tendency to falter when using multi-hit combos by parrying them at the right moments, exposing his vulnerability for follow-up attacks.
3. Mastering the timing of parries can be tricky, but that’s where the Phantom Heatwave skill comes in handy.
4. With the Phantom Heatwave skill, you’ll be able to defeat Maluca more easily in The First Berserker Khazan.
First Phase
- The first phase is fairly simple, as Maluca only uses his Greatswords, which are easy to predict and parry. Furthermore, the Greatswords are also quite easy to dodge and give you plenty of time to punish in between combos.
- You want to start the encounter with a parry or a Brink Dodge, followed by the Spear’s Trance combo. You can also perform a Spiral Thrust to deal additional damage to the boss.
- The first phase is quite short (roughly 20% of the Maluca’s total HP). However, it does give you ample time to learn his basic combo patterns. The second phase does see the Greatsword return. As such, it’s best to memorize the boss’ attacks in the first phase.
- Additionally, the first phase is also where you want to deal damage to the boss and accumulate Spirit. That way you’ll have plenty of Spirit to use in the second phase.
- In terms of skills, we recommend Trance, Spiral Thrust, and Phantom Heatwave. Additionally, for the armor, the best choice is either Deep Shadow or the Fallen Lord’s Set.
Second Phase
- The second phase is a bit tricky to nail down. However, with proper timing, you can easily get through this phase. The biggest hurdle in this phase is going to be Maluca’s sheer agility. Furthermore, the new weapon moveset can catch you off guard, at least on your very first attempt.
- Maluca always starts this phase with a jumping attack followed by a Chaos slash. While you might be tempted to parry these combos, they need to be dodged to avoid Chaos build-up. Do remember to carry Chaos Cleansing items for this phase.
- After the Chaos slash, Maluca will continue attacking with a flurry of combos, which are best avoided using dodge. At the start of this phase, your primary objective will be to exhaust Maluca. You can parry some of his attacks, but the timing is quite tricky; as such, it’s best to simply dodge most of his combos. Having the Moonlight Stance skills helps a ton in this phase.
- Once you see Maluca’s stamina dropping below 50%, that is when you can start dishing out your combos. If you’re using the Spear, start with the Spiral Thrust, followed by Trance. If you’re using Dual Wield, use Phantom Sword Dance to dish out raw and stamina damage to the boss.
- After a while, Maluca will sheath his Katanas and bring out the Greatswords. During the Greatsword phase, you can freely dish out your combos while also parrying most of Maluca’s attacks.
- The Greatsword attacks are easy to parry, and doing so not only deals damage to Maluca’s HP bar but also his stamina. If you want to expedite the process, use the Concentrated Poison Essence to deal poison damage to the boss.
- Lastly, if you find Maluca starting to heal himself, quickly interrupt him with a charged or a Spirit attack combo.
