To mark the start of Season 1, Battlefield 6 is adding a free-to-play Battle Royale mode called Battlefield RedSec. Players will drop into the large Fort Lyndon map, form squads, and fight to be the last team standing while avoiding a shrinking, dangerous zone.
Battlefield RedSec is a free-to-play game that looks set to be one of the biggest Battle Royale releases this year. If you’re wondering how to start playing, here’s a simple guide to installing Battlefield RedSec so you’re ready to go when it launches.
How To Download Battlefield RedSec
How To Download/Pre-Download RedSec Through Battlefield 6
Okay, so here’s the deal: if you already own the premium version of Battlefield 6, you can actually start downloading Battlefield RedSec right now! It basically lets you pre-install it through Battlefield 6 so you won’t have to wait as long when it officially launches. Here’s how to get it going:
- Head to Settings, then go to System.
- Navigate to Setup, then select Install/Uninstall.
- Check Battlefield REDSEC and wait for the installation process to complete.
I’m so excited! Once the download finishes, I’ll be able to jump right into Battlefield RedSec as soon as Season 1 goes live on October 28th at 8 AM PT. If you’re getting into it after launch, you can download RedSec through Battlefield 6 – you might have even already downloaded it when you updated for Season 1! Just double-check to make sure it’s installed – I don’t want to miss out on the action!
If you have Battlefield 6 through the EA App, you can also get Battlefield RedSec by following these steps:
- Head to Battlefield 6 and select Manage.
- Select Modify Install.
- Check Battlefield 6 REDSEC to download and install the mode.
How To Download RedSec For Free-To-Play Players
If you don’t currently have Battlefield 6 and want to try the new mode without paying, you can download Battlefield RedSec directly from your platform’s store. It’s available on the EA App (and through the EA App on the Epic Games Store), Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
Unlike players who own the full Battlefield 6 game, those playing the free version won’t be able to download the Battle Royale mode before it launches. Free players will have to wait until October 28th at 8 AM Pacific Time, when Battlefield RedSec is officially released on each platform’s store. Once it’s available, you can download and play it for free as a separate game, without needing the original Battlefield 6.
As of right now, Battlefield RedSec isn’t available for download everywhere just yet – it’s being released gradually. Here’s where you can get it for free at the moment:
- PlayStation Store
- Xbox Store
- Steam
