How To Earn Lots Of Units In No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky has become a much better game since it first came out. This space exploration game lets you discover a huge universe filled with countless planets.

With so much to do in the game, you’ll always need money. It’s usually faster to buy resources and building materials from stores than to collect them yourself, especially when creating large bases. Units are a key form of currency in No Man’s Sky, along with Nanites and Quicksilver. You can use Units to purchase items, building supplies, and even powerful upgrades for your spaceship.

If you want to sell items for Units in No Man’s Sky, go to any Space Station and use the Galactic Trade Terminal, which you’ll find on the ground floor.

Salvaging Artifacts, Relics, & Bones

As a total space exploration fanatic, one of my favorite things to do is hunt down Artifacts and Relics on planets – they’re worth a ton of Units! I always use my Analysis Visor to scan everything. It’ll either highlight the Artifacts directly, or show me Artifact Sites and Ruins where they’re buried. If it’s a site, I usually break out my Terrain Manipulator to dig around a bit, then I either pick up the Artifact or use my Multi-Tool to mine it out, depending on what I find. It’s so rewarding!

Fossils are valuable items you can discover while exploring. You can either display them or sell them for a profit. To find them, travel to planets labeled with the ‘Ancient Bones’ marker, then use your Analysis Visor to locate and collect Fossil Beds.

Hunt Random Creatures Early On

There are many ways to earn Units in No Man’s Sky, but some require better equipment or specific skills. While the most profitable methods usually come later in the game, players can still earn a good amount of Units relatively early on.

Hunting is a straightforward way to earn money. Players can use their Mining Beam to kill creatures on planets and collect the meat they leave behind. A full stack of this meat can sell for over 50,000 Units. However, animals don’t respawn quickly enough to make hunting a consistently profitable method in the long run.

Nab Whispering Eggs For A Huge Payout

Opening Whispering Eggs can be a fast way to make a lot of money, but players often struggle with the Biological Horrors that appear when trying to collect the Larval Cores inside. Luckily, some have found a method to safely gather these resources without fighting off endless waves of enemies.

A player named SmellyFerret on Twitter discovered a clever farming technique. They find deserted buildings by exploring planets, then build a 4×4 wall around a group of eggs. This allows them to safely collect eggs outside the walls, triggering the ‘Biological Horror’ event. Once triggered, they can then safely mine the eggs inside the walled area without being attacked. By repeating this process on different planets, players can quickly earn a lot of credits.

Complete Missions & Sidequests

The Nexus is a social space added to the game with the Beyond update. Players can use it to post missions and offer rewards – like rare items or Units – to anyone who completes them. There are four different mission types available.

You can earn rewards by helping NPCs with their quests. Polo the Gek, a scientist on the Anomaly, will give you powerful upgrades for your ship, exosuit, and multitool if you complete research for him. If you already have great gear, he’ll pay you in Units instead.

Nexus Missions And Their Rewards

  • Regular Missions: Items, Units, or Nanites
  • Daily Quicksilver Missions: 250 Quicksilver
  • Encrypted Missions: Units, Nanites, and sometimes rare items
  • Weekend Missions: 12oo Quicksilver

Scan Items & Sell The Data

A quick way to earn money in No Man’s Sky is by scanning objects using your Multi-Tool. To do this, you’ll need the Analysis Visor upgrade. You can either buy it from merchants or create it yourself using 50 iron.

Players earn a small amount of Units every time they scan something. They get even more Units for scanning all the animals, items, and landmarks on each planet. After scanning, players can name their discoveries and share them to earn extra Units – it’s a fun way to explore the galaxy and make money! Upgrading their Analysis Visor lets players earn tens of thousands of Units per scan, and some upgrades work best on specific things like minerals, creatures, or plants.

Find Buried Treasure

One of the most amazing things about No Man’s Sky is just how vast it is. The game features an enormous number of planets, and it’s designed so you won’t be able to visit them all. Each planet is different, with its own landscapes, plants, and creatures.

With the Analysis Visor attached to your Multi-tool, you can find ancient burial sites hidden underground on planets. You can dig these up using the terrain manipulator and then sell the ancient bones you find to earn Units.

Different Types Of Bones And How Much They Are Worth

  • Common: 250-500 years old, with a base value of 50,000 to 110,000 each
  • Uncommon: 600-1100 years old, with a base value of 200,000 to 650,000 Units
  • Rare: 1400 to 3000 years old, with a base value of 700,000 to 1,700,000 Units

Visit Stormy Planets To Harvest Crystals

Some planets are safe, but others are full of danger. Players might face aggressive creatures or harsh weather, requiring special gear to survive. For example, if they want to explore dangerous storms, they’ll need to improve their exosuit’s defenses.

With the Analysis Visor, players can find storm crystals, glowing rocks that appear only during active storms – often hidden inside abandoned freighter containers. These crystals are valuable for crafting and can be sold for a good profit, giving players extra Units.

Sell Advanced Technology

To get better gear, players need to collect Salvaged Data and exchange it for new blueprints. Don’t discard any items, even if you don’t need them right away – you can always sell them for Units.

Making money by buying and selling tech can be a fast way to earn profit. Rare gadgets fetch higher prices. Certain items aren’t made – you have to buy them directly from stores. Because the game’s economy is so diverse, you can easily profit by buying tech in one star system and selling it in another. (Be warned: doing this repeatedly with the Wiring Loom can disrupt the entire galactic economy!)

Valuable Techs Include

  • Stasis Devices
  • Fusion Igniters
  • Quantum Processors
  • Portable Reactor
  • Mind Control Device

Mine Asteroids For Gold

In No Man’s Sky, your spaceship is your most important possession. You can choose from a variety of ships, like those designed for carrying lots of goods or for fighting. A good way to make money, called Units, is by mining asteroids – and you can do it all from inside your ship!

Players can collect resources from asteroids using any weapon, as even basic ones are strong enough to break them apart. Destroying asteroids yields Tritium, which can be refined into fuel for your ship, along with other useful materials.

Different Types Of Asteroids And What They Drop

  • Small Asteroids: Drop Tritium, Silver, and Gold, and also have a small chance of dropping Anomaly detectors, Gold Nuggets, and Tritium Hyper Clusters.
  • Large Asteroids: Can be destroyed partially or fully, and are bountiful sources of Silver and Gold.
  • Crystal Asteroids: The rarest type, and can be mined for Platinum.

A Quiet Life Of Mineral Farming

In No Man’s Sky, players constantly need more materials to create new items and improve their bases. These resources aren’t just for building, though – you can also sell them for Units at any trading post or vendor.

Players can gather valuable resources by building mining machines directly on top of natural resource deposits. They’ll also need silos to store the materials they collect. While some resources are more valuable than others, mining can be a surprisingly simple way to earn a lot of money in the game.
