How to Easily Destroy a Leaper (Bison) in ARC Raiders

Leapers, formerly called Bison, are large, dangerous machines found in the Rust Belt in ARC Raiders. They’re known for their powerful attack where they leap from high distances, instantly knocking players unconscious. To progress in the game, especially with the ‘Into the Fray’ quest, you’ll need to defeat a Leaper and collect the Leaper Pulse Unit from its remains for crafting. This guide will show you how to efficiently take down a Leaper and get its parts.

Where to Find Leapers (Bison) in ARC Raiders (Into the Fray)

Most players will recognize Dam Battlegrounds, and it’s known to consistently spawn Leapers in ARC Raiders. You can reliably find one near the Hydroponic Dome Complex (just to the east) and another by the Water Treatment Control elevator. It’s very likely you’ll encounter a Leaper at one, or both, of these spots during a game.

Okay, so before I jump into a raid and go after a Leaper in ARC Raiders, I always double-check my gear. Here’s what I usually bring to make things easier. This is mostly stuff you can find pretty easily, but if you’ve got better gear, definitely use it – it’ll take down a Leaper way faster!

Primary Weapon Anvil Both support Heavy-Ammo, which offers high ARC armor penetration. You must have one of them in your weapons, or a better weapon with a higher ARC armor penetration stat.
Ferro
Secondary Weapon Any You can take any secondary weapon with the primary, as long as it can deal medium to long-range damage. Arpeggio is my personal pick in this category, but feel free to choose whatever weapon you’re more comfortable with. If you have a Hullcracker, it’ll make taking down the Leaper a lot easier.
Utility Blaze Grenades You should have at least three Blaze Grenades in your inventory. The easy method that will be showcased in the next section depends on it. Players can find Blaze while looting, or craft it (blueprint required) at a level 3 Explosives Station with 1x Explosive Compound and 2x Oil.

How to Get the Leaper Pulse Unit in ARC Raiders (Easy/Cheese Method)

When you encounter a Bison (Leaper) in these areas, the most important thing is to find a secure location before attacking. For instance, if a Leaper appears close to the Hydroponic Dome Complex, you can use the doorway of one of the Domes for cover. Or, if you’re battling a Leaper near the Water Treatment Elevator, the Field Depot provides a safe spot.

Okay, so when I’m playing ARC Raiders and about to fight a Leaper, I always check for other ARC drones – Wasps or Hornets – nearby. Seriously, take those out first. It makes the Leaper fight way easier if you’re not getting swarmed by extra enemies.

After finding a safe place to hide, shoot the Leaper in the eye using a powerful weapon like the Ferro or Anvil. This will draw it towards you, but because it’s too large to fit into tight spaces, your hiding spot will keep you protected.

Begin the battle by throwing a Blade Grenade at the Leaper’s eye to set it on fire. While it’s burning, continue shooting its eye with your weapons. When the fire goes out, throw another Blaze Grenade to reignite it. Leapers are very vulnerable to fire, making Blaze Grenades especially useful.

Okay, so fighting the Leaper can be tricky – it sometimes tries to run away, so you gotta give chase! Just be careful, because it can jump around and hit you with an EMP blast. The key to taking it down is to keep shooting at its glowing eye with heavy ammo while it’s on fire. Keep hitting that eye, and eventually, it’ll go down for good!

Once you defeat the Leaper in ARC Raiders, prioritize looting its eye to obtain the Leaper Pulse Unit. Immediately store it in your Safe Pocket to ensure it doesn’t get lost if your raider is damaged during extraction. You can then use the Pulse Unit for crafting or to finish the “Into the Fray” quest in ARC Raiders.
