How to Open the Closed-Off Building (Crimson Forest) in Ghost of Yotei

Crimson Forest Closed-Off Building Location & Solution

  • Location: North region of Crimson Forest

After arriving in the Teshio Ridge area, go east to find the Crimson Forest, which is famous for its trees with red leaves. Keep heading east until you’re directly above the letters “M” and “S” in the word “Crimson” on the map, and you’ll come across the Closed-Off Building. Now you can start working on the puzzle to get inside.

To the right of the building, you’ll see two fox statues with a torch between them in a holder. Take the torch. Next, you need to find and light the two lanterns that have a reclining fox statue above each one. Be careful not to light the pyre with the seated fox, as that will lead to your demise. These statues are located to the left of the Closed-Off Building, and to the left of the entrance, leaning against a tree. After you’ve done that, go inside the building and collect the Altar of Reflection for a skill point, as well as the Intelligence Report, which points to an old man at the Red Crane Inn who might be worth talking to.

How to Open the Closed-Off Building (Sarobetsu Forest) in Ghost of Yotei

Sarobetsu Forest Closed-Off Building Location & Solution

  • Location: West region of Sarobetsu Forest

Travel northwest along the Teshio Ridge to reach the Sarobetsu Forest, a snowy area that can be dangerous for Atsu if she isn’t cautious. This harsh tundra demands quick reflexes from players, because the snow gradually depletes their health. You’ll discover the Closed-off Building located directly beneath the letter “A” in “Sarobetsu” when viewing the map.

When you arrive, look to the right side of the building for a straw lantern with an arrow indicating the way forward. Head towards this lantern, and walk behind it to discover a hidden hole. Inside the hole, you’ll find a fox statue you can examine. After interacting with the statue, climb out of the hole and then grab the statue located to the right, near the front door with the left paw raised, and place it on the empty altar to the left. You can now enter the Closed-Off Building to find the Altar of Reflection and an Intelligence Report, which will highlight the Nakajima Sake House on your map.

How to Open the Closed-Off Building (Sentinel Forest) in Ghost of Yotei

Sentinel Forest Closed-Off Building Location & Solution

  • Location: South region of Sentinel Forest

Travel northwest in the Teshio Ridge region until you reach the Sentinel Forest. On the map, look just below the first “E” and “N” in “Sentinel” – you’ll find an area covered in bamboo. You can go inside this bamboo maze to discover the Closed-Off Building. Like the other buildings, it doesn’t have a door, but this one is different: it’s missing the fox statue.

The objective of the Closed-Off Building is to locate the fox statue. Begin by examining the building and then turn left into the bamboo maze. Continue along the path until you come to a fork with three options: left, straight ahead, and right. To find the statue, turn left and attack the bamboo with a melee weapon. Once you have the statue, return to the Closed-Off Building. Going straight ahead will lead to your demise. After placing the fox statue near the front door, you’ll be able to open it and obtain the Intelligence Report for an outpost north of Sakuru Woods, as well as an Altar of Reflection, which grants a free skill point.

How to Open the Closed-Off Building (Shipwreck Shoal) in Ghost of Yotei

Shipwreck Shoal Closed-Off Building Location & Solution

  • Location: North of Shipwreck Shoal

Go to the northern part of Teshio Ridge. You’ll find a Closed-Off Building at Shipwreck Shoal. If you look at the map, it’s located just above the letters “C” and “K” in the word “Shipwreck”. However, two fox statues are blocking the way, as the building is on a mountain that seems impossible to reach. To get to the Closed-Off Building off the coast of Shipwreck Shoal, players need to turn the left fox statue to face right, and then turn the right fox statue to face left. This will activate a rope bridge you can use to reach the building.

You’ve now reached the Closed-Off Building, where you’ll find two fox statues. Facing the main island, rotate the statue on the left so it looks to the left, and then rotate the statue on the right so it faces to the right. This will unlock the door to the building. Simply walk up to it, and you’ll discover an Altar of Reflection, as well as an Intelligence Report that marks the Sarufutsu Lighthouse on your map.

Finishing all four Closed-Off Buildings doesn’t give you a Trophy or any other reward, but it does unlock 4 Altars of Reflections, which you can then use to improve Atsu’s skills.
