How to Enter Castle Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village (Maiden & Demon Crests)

After a brief introduction, Resident Evil Village begins with Ethan being attacked by creatures in the village. After this intense fight, players will arrive at a church with a locked gate and a castle looming overhead. Like other Resident Evil games, you’ll need to find items to unlock the path forward. If you’re stuck on how to get the Maiden and Demon Crests to continue, this guide will show you how.

Where to Get the Maiden Crest in Resident Evil Village

This important item is located inside the church, near the statue of the Maiden of War. It’s on the altar, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding it. You can use the Maiden Crest to open the outer gate to Castle Dimitrescu right away, or you can save it and find its matching key, the Demon Crest, first.

You can save your game in RE: Village by using Typewriters. There’s one inside the church.

Where to Find the Demon Crest in Resident Evil Village

Finding the Demon Crest is a bit more involved than finding the Maiden Crest. After you find the Maiden Crest in the church, look for a map on a chair near the altar. This map will show you where to find the Demon Crest. Specifically, you’ll need to go to Luiza’s house, which is east of the church.

Head outside and find the path by the church that goes to the field. Luiza’s house is right after the tall grass. Be careful, though – there are some werewolves in the field. They won’t chase you unless you get too close, but they will attack if you do. You can either run quickly past them, or choose to fight and defeat them.

Okay, so I finally made it across the field, but the gate was locked! Luckily, there’s a little shack nearby where I found Elena and her dad. We climbed out the window and got inside the main area around Luiza’s house. I was able to unlock the gate and let everyone else in. Oh, and there was this cool shrine right next to the gate – I found the Demon Crest there, which is awesome!

Now, just follow the story as it unfolds. Talk to Luiza and the other people who survived, watch what happens, and after you escape, return to the shrine to collect the Demon Crest. Then, go back to the gate and place the crests in their designated spots. Once the Outer Gate is open, you can begin exploring Castle Dimitrescu.

Even after you’ve put the Maiden and Demon Crests in place in Resident Evil Village, you’ll need to turn them to finish the carvings on the gate.
