How to Enter the Secret Lab in Totenreich & Solve the Puzzle

Totenreich has a lot of hidden areas, and one particularly tricky one is a secret room on Fishery Island, just to the left of the Pack-a-Punch machine. You can get into the Group 935 Genetic Lab whenever you want during a Totenreich game, but it’s mostly important for completing the main quest.

How to Enter the Group 935 Genetic Lab Secret Room in Totenreich

To get to the Group 935 Genetic Lab, you’ll need an ARC-XD. You can find one for free on top of a crate in Eidskallen Square – look for it while facing southwest (see the picture above). If you don’t find one there, you can also build an ARC-XD at the Crafting Table, or try to fish for it.

After getting an ARC-XD, go to the Core Foundry. Inside the warehouse where you find the VS Recon Wallbuy, look for a vent in the northwest corner upstairs. You can break it open with a single bullet.

Now that the vent is open, send in your ARC-XD and drive it through. It will go down the stairs. There’s a ramp you can use to cross, and we recommend aiming slightly to the right and avoiding a boost. Boosting might cause you to hit the wall and fall into the water.

After entering the secret room and finding the ARC-XD, go to the back where you’ll see a door with wooden panels and some explosive barrels. Detonate the ARC-XD near this door, which will then give you access to the Group 935 Genetic Lab, located to the left of the Pack-a-Punch machine on Fishery Island.

Group 935 Genetic Lab Puzzle Walkthrough in Totenreich

Once you enter the Group 935 Genetic Lab, go down the south corridor. Along both sides of this corridor, you’ll find five numbered buttons, ranging from 1 to 5. Two of these buttons will be marked with a radiation symbol.

Every number corresponds to a letter of the alphabet—1 is A, 2 is B, 3 is C, and so on. Your task is to identify the two numbers with radiation symbols and convert them into their corresponding letters. For example, if the numbers were 1 and 3, the letters would be A and C.

After getting the letters, search the Group 935 Genetic Lab for jars containing heads. Each jar has a letter on it, so find the jars that match your letters and place them on the machine next to the cell, one at a time. If you’ve chosen the right letters, you’ll be able to grab a purple gas canister.

Use the purple gas on the dead creature at the north wall. This will make it explode and release the Necrospike, which you can then collect.

If you put the incorrect head on, you’ll see blue gas appear. Just take the wrong head off and put it back where you originally found it, then try again.

How to Lockpick the Cell in Totenreich

Okay, so I got the Necrospike, and now I can go back to that locked cell and try to pick the lock. It actually starts a little minigame! The cool thing is, zombies can’t get me while I’m picking the lock, so I don’t have to worry about them. But I gotta be quick, because if I take too long, I’ll have to wait until the next round to try again.

You can pick the cell’s lock by carefully tilting the Necrospike with the Right Stick until the pins on the right side rise. Hold the Right Stick steady while the highlighted pin turns white, then repeat the process with each remaining pin.

Once you’ve activated all three pins, the cell will unlock, revealing the Uranium within.
