If you’ve defeated a boss or opened a Sealed Abyss Artifact, you’ve probably found Abyss Gear. Don’t sell these items! They’re powerful rewards that can be used to enhance your weapons and armor, making your character even stronger.
Okay, so let’s talk about Abyss Gears. I’m going to break down everything – how to actually use them, how to make and improve them, and where to find all the parts. It looks pretty complicated at first, but I’ll make sure you understand exactly what you need to do. Trust me, I’ve been there!
How to Use Abyss Gears in Crimson Desert (& What They Do)
- Abyss Gears can increase your stats (like Attack and Defence) and grant unique abilities.
- Some Abyss Gears can only be equipped on armor, whereas others can only be equipped on weapons (it’s specified when you read the item description).
- When you have an Abyss Gear, you can head to a Witch and select “Create Socket” to purchase a slot on any piece of equipment you wish to use.
- When you have a slot free, select “Embed Abyss Gear”, and then choose the Abyss Gears you would like to equip.
- Don’t worry about putting on the wrong Abyss Gear, as you can always remove the Abyss Gear and still keep it with no penalty.
How to Upgrade Abyss Gears in Crimson Desert
- If you have duplicate Abyss Gears (for example, x2 Destruction Lv 1), then you can head to any Witch and select “Craft Abyss Gear”.
- Under the “Craft Abyss Gear” option, you can press R2/RT to enter “Synthesis”.
- Synthesis will allow you to combine the duplicate Abyss Gears into a higher level (for example, x2 Destruction Lv 1 will become x1 Destruction Lv 2).
- Some Abyss Gears cannot be upgraded, and for others, you might need a Blueprint. These Blueprints are commonly purchased from Witches in their “Buy” section.
- Upgrading Abyss Gears is essential to ensure you’re not wasting slots (for example) on x3 Destruction Lv 1 when you can instead have x1 Destruction Lv 3 that does the same thing.
How to Get and Create Abyss Gears in Crimson Desert
- Abyss Gears can be obtained from unique equipment found in the open world, either by exploring, completing missions, or killing bosses.
- When you obtain a new piece of armor or a weapon, inspect it from your inventory to check if it has any Abyss Gears.
- If it does have an Abyss Gear, take it to a Witch and select “Extract Abyss Gear”.
- From your Equipped Gear or Inventory, you can select a piece of equipment and remove the Abyss Gear, which places it in your inventory for later use at no charge or penalty.
- At any Witch, you can also select “Craft Abyss Gear” to create your own Abyss Gears.
- The materials are always specified, but the only constant is Abyss Cells.
- You can only craft Abyss Gears if you know the Blueprint, but you can always try “Special Synthesis” to combine two random Abyss Gears in your inventory for a gacha roll.
