Buneary is a popular Pokémon to include on many teams in Pokémon Legends: Z-A because it’s cute and relatively easy to find. Its evolved form, Lopunny, is also a favorite. However, evolving Buneary into Lopunny in Pokémon Legends: Z-A requires fulfilling a specific condition.
Buneary can evolve quite quickly in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but it can also be frustrating if you’re not sure how. Once you know the process, evolving Buneary into Lopunny is actually pretty fast. Here’s a guide on how to do it in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
How to Evolve Buneary in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Buneary doesn’t evolve based on its level. Instead, you need to become friends with it first. The good news is there’s no level requirement, so you can evolve it soon after you catch it if you quickly raise your friendship level!
To become better friends with your Buneary, keep it in your party and let it battle! It’s important to keep its health high so it doesn’t faint. You can also boost your friendship by spending time with your Pokémon – relax with them on benches around Lumiose City, or treat them to drinks at a café. Cafés are the fastest way to increase friendship, so if you’re aiming to evolve Buneary into Lopunny, that’s the best place to start!
I’m really excited about raising my Buneary’s friendship level! I found out you can give it a Soothe Bell to help with that, and it speeds things up a lot. You actually get the Soothe Bell by doing a side quest – Side Mission 36, called “Some Friendly Competition.” It’s on the west side of Lumioise City, but you can only get to it after you finish Main Mission 14 in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. It’s a bit of a trek, but totally worth it to get closer to my Buneary!
After you become good friends with Buneary, an arrow will appear next to its icon when it levels up. This means it’s ready to evolve into Lopunny! Keep in mind that several other Pokémon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A also evolve based on friendship, so you might need to repeat this process with other catches.
