How to Evolve Eevee Into Espeon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Eevee has been able to evolve into different Pokémon since the very first games, but the number of evolutions has increased over time. This makes it tricky to remember how to evolve Eevee into specific forms, like Espeon, and can be confusing for players.

Even though Eeveelutions haven’t received Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, they remain popular choices for players building their teams. Espeon, in particular, is a long-time fan favorite that many will want to add right away.

Want to quickly evolve Eevee into Espeon? We’ve got a complete guide detailing exactly how to do it.

How to Evolve Eevee Into Espeon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Eevee will evolve into Espeon only during the day if you’ve built a strong friendship with it.

Before evolving your Eevee, double-check its known moves. If it knows any Fairy-type move, it will evolve into Sylveon instead of another form. For instance, Eevee caught in Wild Zone 19 often already knows the Fairy-type move Charm, so you’ll need to teach it a different move first if you want a different evolution.

Espeon is an evolution of Eevee that requires a strong bond with your trainer, just like Umbreon and Sylveon. However, Pokémon Legends: Z-A makes it easier to build that friendship and evolve Eevee into Espeon thanks to new game features.

It’s easy to become great friends with your Pokémon! Visiting one of the cafes in Lumiose City and buying your Pokémon around four drinks will often cause it to evolve. If you’d prefer to save your money, simply spending time with your Pokémon on benches is also a great way to increase your friendship level.

Can You Catch Espeon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

You can’t find Espeon in the wild in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The only way to get one is by evolving an Eevee.

After you finish the main story in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you can find special, stronger versions of Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, Glaceon, and Leafeon—the Eevee evolutions that use Evolution Stones—as Alpha Pokémon in the Wild Zone 20. However, this only applies to those Stone Evolutions; other Eevee evolutions aren’t available as Alpha Pokémon.

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Espeon, Umbreon, and Sylveon are unique because you can only evolve Eevee into them directly within the game. However, if you prefer, you can still complete your Pokédex by trading with other players to obtain them.

Honestly, I’m still hoping there’ll be another way to get Espeon when the Mega Dimension DLC drops, but right now, evolving Eevee seems to be the only reliable way to add it to my team. I’m doing it that way for now!
