How to Evolve Eevee Into Umbreon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Pokémon Legends: Z-A features Eevee and all of its evolutions, including the popular Umbreon. However, figuring out how to evolve Eevee into the specific form you want can be tricky.

Even though none of Eevee’s evolutions can Mega Evolve in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, they’re still highly sought-after Pokémon, and many players will likely choose Umbreon to strengthen their teams.

Okay, so I’ve been trying to get an Umbreon for ages, and I finally figured out exactly how to evolve Eevee to make sure it happens! I’m sharing everything I learned so you can get one too.

How to Evolve Eevee Into Umbreon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Eevee will evolve into Umbreon only if you’ve built a strong friendship with it and it’s nighttime.

Before evolving your Eevee, it’s important to check what moves it knows. If an Eevee learns a Fairy-type move, it will evolve into Sylveon. For example, powerful Eevees found in Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s Wild Zone 19 already know the move Charm, and you’ll need to make it forget that move before evolving it into something else.

Umbreon is one of three Pokémon evolutions that become available when you have a strong bond with your Pokémon – and each one has a slightly different way to evolve. Luckily, building that strong bond is now simpler than ever in Legends: Z-A.

Okay, so I’m trying to max out my Eevee’s friendship in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Sure, giving it Exp Candies while leveling it up helps a little, but honestly, the Cafe is the way to go. It gives a massive friendship boost. All I do is find a Cafe, pick a drink, and just chill with my Pokémon – it works way faster than anything else!

You can also raise your Pokémon’s friendship level simply by spending time with them on a bench, and best of all, it’s completely free!

Can You Catch Umbreon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

You can’t catch Umbreon directly in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The only way to get one is to evolve an Eevee.

As a Pokémon Legends: Z-A fan, I was really excited to see Eevee evolutions appearing as Alpha Pokémon in the Wild Zone! But it looks like you can only find Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, Glaceon, and Leafeon – the ones that evolve with stones. Sadly, you won’t be able to catch Espeon or Umbreon as Alphas in that area.

Umbreon, Espeon, and Sylveon are the only Eevee evolutions you can’t find in the wild in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. You’ll need to either evolve an Eevee or trade with another player to get them.

While the upcoming Mega Dimension DLC might make it easier to find Umbreon by adding new Pokémon and locations, the most reliable way to get one right now is still by evolving an Eevee.

Okay, so I’ve been digging into Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and I figured out how to evolve Eelektrik into Eelektross. I also found out where to snag a King’s Rock, which is super useful, and learned how to actually change the weather in the game. Definitely some helpful stuff if you’re playing!
