Graveler is a strong Rock and Ground-type Pokémon in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, making it helpful in later battles. It’s even better to evolve Graveler into its final form, Golem! But evolving isn’t as simple as just gaining levels. Golem has specific evolution requirements that make getting one in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen a bit more challenging. Here’s a guide on how to evolve Geodude into Graveler, and then Graveler into Golem.
How to Get and Evolve Geodude in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen
Geodude is a pretty common Pokémon you’ll find while playing the game and working towards becoming the Pokémon Champion. It lives in most of the caves and tunnels throughout the game, including these spots:
- Rock Tunnel
- Cerulean Cave
- Mt. Moon
- Mt. Ember Cave
- Kindle Road
- Victory Road
- Quest Island
Okay, so after beating Brock in Pewter City, the first real dungeon you’ll hit is Mt. Moon! To get there, just head right out of Pewter City onto Route 3 and you can’t miss it.
Continue along the path created by the small fences, heading to the right. At the end, you’ll see the entrance to a cave directly ahead – this is Mt. Moon.
If you go inside, there’s a 25% chance you’ll find a Geodude on the first floor between levels 7 and 9. On the basement level (B2F), between levels 9 and 10, there’s a 30% chance of encountering one.
After you catch a Geodude, keep using it in battles until it levels up to 25. It will then evolve into Graveler.
You can find Geodude in both the FireRed and LeafGreen Pokémon games, as it isn’t exclusive to either version.
How to Evolve Graveler into Golem in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen
You can evolve Graveler by trading it with a friend. To do this, go to any Pokémon Center and head upstairs. Once there, enter the Direct Corner and select the Trade Center by talking to the person at the counter.
You can find Graveler naturally occurring in areas like Cerulean Cave, Kindle Road, Mt. Ember, and Seavault Canyon.
First, pick the friend you want to trade with, then choose the Graveler you want to trade. After the trade goes through, your Graveler will evolve in your friend’s game right away. Then, have your friend trade the evolved Golem back to you so you can continue training it.
If you need to evolve your Graveler, you can easily trade it with a friend who has one, and each of you can keep the other’s Pokémon.
Remember that stats and moves can vary, so you could end up trading a strong Golem with a well-balanced skillset for a weaker Pokémon with fewer strengths.
