Pikachu is arguably the most recognizable Pokémon ever, so it’s no surprise many trainers will want one in *Pokémon Legends: Z-A*. Fortunately, you can obtain a Pikachu through two different methods fairly early in the game, and we’ll show you exactly how to find one and evolve it into Raichu.
First Way to Get Pikachu in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Good Ol’ Catching
One of the earliest ways to find Pikachu in *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* is by progressing through the main story until you unlock Wild Zone 3. This becomes available during the mission called ‘The City in the Shadow of Prism Tower,’ when you visit Emma’s agency.
After reaching Wild Zone 3, you’ll likely find a few Pikachu in the southeastern area. These Electric-type Pokémon can appear at any time of day, and you can adjust the time to increase your chances of finding them.

How to Evolve Pichu into Pikachu
Friendship
In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Pichu will evolve into Pikachu when it’s very close to you – meaning you’ve built up a strong friendship. Currently, there’s no way to see exactly *how* close you are to a Pokemon, but we were able to evolve our Pichu into Pikachu at level 20 simply by having it in our party and giving it Exp. Candies.
Simply care for Pichu, include it in your team, and gain enough experience to trigger its evolution into Raichu.
To make your Pokemon stronger, go to the Menu, select it, and choose the ‘Evolve’ option.
How to Get a Thunder Stone to Evolve Pikachu
It’ll Cost Ya
In Lumiose City, you can find the Stone Emporium, a shop that sells Evolution items. This is where you’ll get the Thunder Stone needed to evolve your Pikachu into a Raichu.
Okay, so I found the store! It’s on Vernal Avenue, just northwest of Wild Zone 1 and a little west of Hotel Z – the map above shows exactly where. But heads up, you might not be able to get in right away. If the area seems blocked or you can’t find the store, just keep playing through the main story – usually after missions 5 or 6 it opens up!
The Thunder Stone costs ₽3,000. To use it, go to the ‘Other Items’ section of your bag, find the stone, and select it while your Pikachu is active. This will evolve your Pikachu!
Raichu will receive two new Mega Evolutions in *Pokemon Legends: Z-A*, but these will be available through the Mega Dimension DLC.
