How to Exit Planes (& Other Vehicles)
To leave your aircraft, search for the closest exit, which should be located either to your left or right depending on whether you’re seated on the corresponding side of the plane. For seats facing towards the cockpit, look for the door handle. If using a controller like an XBOX one, press the ‘A’ button instead. Aircraft with canopies will have latches along their seals. Some planes may also have exits at the rear, located behind the pilot’s cabin. To locate these, you might need to rotate your view around the plane.
As a gamer, when I’m playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and can’t seem to locate the manual exit or just need to bail out swiftly, there’s an easy workaround. On my PC setup, I press ‘SHIFT + C’ on the keyboard to take control of my character and jump out of the plane. If I’m using an XBOX controller, I press ‘LB + B’ instead. Interestingly, tapping this combo again instantly teleports me back inside the cockpit. Just remember, for some adrenaline-pumping action, make sure the aircraft is safely on the ground before attempting to exit!
On Foot Controls
When you’re on the ground, you’ll be able to explore the exterior of your aircraft. It’s necessary for performing certain pre-flight checks in career mode. To do this, simply click the left mouse button or press ‘A’ on an Xbox controller. Your pilot character will automatically carry a flashlight for night visibility. Additionally, you can crouch and sprint as needed.
