When you begin Starsand Island, you’ll get a small farm with a little house in the Hopeland area – it’s a perfect place to start farming or crafting. But as you get better at these skills and collect more tools, Hopeland might feel too cramped. That’s when buying more land to expand your property becomes a good idea.
At the beginning of Starsand Island, you won’t be able to expand your farm right away. You’ll need to work hard and become friends with the residents of Starsand Town before you can purchase additional land. If this seems a bit complicated, don’t worry—this guide will explain everything you need to know about growing your farm.
How to Purchase Extra Farm Plots

If I want to make my farm bigger, I need to open the menu on my phone in the game (that’s Tab on PC or Y on Xbox). Then I go to the “Buy Land” section and pick which plot I want. Right now, in the early version of Starsand Island, my main farm can have eight extra plots, and each one costs 15,000 Coins. Plus, I can unlock three completely different areas – Cloudrest Lake, Windflute Island, and Blue Beach – to really expand how much I can grow!
You won’t be able to buy land right away. First, you’ll need to finish four quests for the community, which are explained below.
How to Unlock the ‘Buy Land’ Feature

In the Island Life app, you can grow your farm and buy more land by finishing four missions and leveling up to “Island Pro.” Here’s what you need to do:
- Reach Apprentice level in any profession. Speak with any mentor (Zerine, Graminova, Pastelle, Delphin, or Zephyria) and agree to become their student. Then complete the initial tasks they assign to achieve Apprentice status.
- Place six furniture items in the house. Furniture can be bought from Lex Woodworks and placed using build mode (LB + right on the D-pad for controllers, C on the keyboard).
- Collect 2,000 Coins and meet ten Islanders. Sell excess items at vendors and interact with Starsand Island NPCs marked on the map to complete this task.
- Reach Junior level in any profession and complete five requests from the Community Center bulletin board. (Self-explanatory)
How to Purchase Island, Lake, and Beach Plots
Image via Seed Sparkle Lab Okay, so I’ve been playing, and let me tell you, unlocking Cloudrest Lake is a real achievement! You’ll need to complete four more of those Island Life tasks – they’re pretty involved, but worth it. Plus, you’ve gotta really expand your farm; we’re talking six expansions from where you start. Once you hit ‘Home Builder’ status, that gorgeous lake north of Starsand Town finally opens up. It’s a bit of a grind, but the scenery is totally worth the effort!
After that, players can keep working on Island Life tasks until they reach Bright Star status, which unlocks the Blue Beach plot. Before you can get there, though, you’ll need to buy access to Cloudrest Lake.
Once you finish all the Island Life quests and reach Island Legend status, you’ll gain access to plots on Windflute Island. However, you need to first build ten stations and buy the Blue Beach plots before you can claim land there.
Are Farm Expansions Worth It?
Image via Seed Sparkle Lab Buying all eight extra farm plots costs 120,000 coins, which is a good price considering how much more you can grow. But it’s best to wait to unlock the lake, island, and beach areas until your farm is running smoothly on its own, or you’re consistently earning money from other skills.
