As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent delving into the labyrinthine world of Path of Exile, I must admit that the introduction of gold as a currency has brought about a refreshing change to the gameplay dynamics. While I’ve been accustomed to relying on equipment and crafting reagents for trade, the addition of actual cash adds a new layer of strategy and depth to the game.
In the upcoming game, Path of Exile 2, gold marks its debut as a currency for the first time. Unlike earlier editions where items and crafting materials primarily served as bartering tools among players, now, players will need to gather actual coins too if they wish to purchase goods and services from non-player characters (NPCs).
In many Action Role-Playing Games (ARPGs), including PoE 2, you might accumulate a significant amount of gold just by progressing through the game ordinarily. But if you find yourself needing more coins urgently, here are some strategies to help you earn gold quickly in Path of Exile 2.
Gold Farming in PoE 2
In the initial phase of the game, the most effective method for accumulating gold is by clearing maps that you are familiar with and feel confident navigating. Elite packs often reward hundreds of Gold, and additionally, you may discover more Gold-filled Chests throughout your journey. The Dreadnought in Act 2 stands out as a suitable starting point due to its less sprawling layout compared to other zones currently encountered in the main campaign of PoE 2.
If you’re aiming to accumulate gold, the most effective strategy is to focus on farming bosses, ideally those located near a waypoint. To reset the instance of a zone, players can simply interact with a waypoint and press Ctrl+Click (or Hold A/X for controller users) on the desired farming zone.
Bosses to Farm
- Clearfell (Act 1 – Beira of the Rotten Pack)
- Ogham Manor (Act 1 – Candlemass and Lord Geonor)
- Mausoleum of the Praetor (Act 1 – Draven)
- Vastiri Outskirts (Act 2 – Rathbreaker)
- The Lost City (Act 2 – Galleria)
In the game Path of Exile 2, distinctive bosses such as Rathbreaker offer a fairly good opportunity to acquire quality loot and substantial amounts of gold. However, it’s worth noting that Lord Geonor and other Act bosses boast a significantly higher probability of dropping high-quality items. Although they might not be the most profitable sources of gold, they can be effectively farmed for valuable items like Exalted Orbs, Regal Orbs, and more.
It seems that among all the foes, Beira from the Corrupted Group, located to the north of the waypoint in Clearfell, might be the most troublesome for farmers. This boss is often found near the waypoint, making it easy for players to quickly teleport in, defeat Beira swiftly, and then reset the instance within a few minutes or even less. While she doesn’t offer much valuable loot at the start, once you complete Act 3 and replay the initial campaign on Cruel Difficulty, she will begin dropping superior items and more Gold too.
