How to Farm Resources in Age of Mythology

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours poured into strategy games like Age of Empires and its offshoots, I can confidently say that Age of Mythology: Retold has quickly become one of my favorites due to its unique twist on the classic formula. And let me tell you, this guide is a godsend for any player looking to master the art of resource management in this game!

In the game Age of Mythology: Retold, there are four essential resources to gather. However, only three of these resources can be collected on the game map. These resources play a significant role as they enable players to progress further in the game, create stronger units, and expand their population.

In this manual, players learn effective methods for collecting the essential resources across the map – Wood, Food, and Gold. By applying these productivity strategies, avid gamers can ensure their villagers amass a substantial amount of each resource.

How to Farm Food

In the game “Age of Mythology: Retold“, food is incredibly diverse, as it can be procured from a multitude of locations. This could involve hunting, agriculture, fishing, or even foraging for berries!

In Age of Mythology: Retold, the simplest method for obtaining food is by gathering berries or hunting wild animals. To make this process more efficient, players should consider placing a Granary near their food source. This allows villagers to easily deposit the food and return to work quickly. The closer the Granary is to the food source, the less time they’ll spend traveling back and forth.

In the game “Age of Mythology: Retold“, you can construct a Granary by choosing a villager first, followed by selecting the Granary from the Economy section.

By establishing farms around the Town Center and positioning some fishing vessels close to a Dock, your Food production will automatically grow over time without needing explicit commands for your villagers. Yet, keep in mind that these resources won’t yield as abundant harvests compared to manually controlled activities.

Players should ensure that their civilization’s livestock remains close while they are being fattened up. Unlike wild game, these animals can be chosen and moved freely. Once the fat gauge is filled, it indicates that they are ready to be butchered, providing a substantial amount of Food. Moreover, players have the opportunity to interact with a Granary to research Husbrandy, enhancing Villagers’ skills in animal herding and increasing their overall carrying capacity – useful for collecting Wood and Gold too.

How to Farm Wood

In the game “Age of Mythology: Retold,” the most effective method for gathering Wood is by constructing a Storehouse next to a forest. This allows your Villagers to continuously collect Wood, saving you from unnecessary construction of additional Storehouses.

In the game “Age of Mythology: Retold“, you can construct a Storehouse by choosing a Villager first, followed by selecting the Storehouse option in the Economy menu.

How to Farm Gold

In most games, gold is typically the rarest resource. But don’t fret about locating the perfect spot quickly, as mining gold tends to take more time before it runs out.

To gather Gold efficiently in Age of Mythology, strategically position a Storehouse near a Gold deposit that’s not too far from one of your player settlements. This setup allows players to easily recall their Villagers to the base or dispatch some Military forces for protection during raids.

If players have more of one resource than needed, they could exchange it for a scarce resource in their kingdom by constructing a Market after reaching the Heroic Age. This marketplace allows them to trade the excess resources.

In the game, Favor is another valuable asset. Yet, obtaining it relies on the civilization the player selected initially. For insights on how to accumulate Favor in Age of Mythology: Retold, make sure to explore our guide.
