In the game Shape of Dreams, Stardust is the primary currency used to improve your characters between gameplay sessions. You earn Stardust to unlock Constellation Stars, which make your characters more powerful, and eventually, you can use it to buy helpful Memories and Essences before starting a new run.
You’ll earn Stardust simply by playing *Shape of Dreams*, but if you want to collect it quickly, here are a few helpful methods. This guide details three Stardust farming strategies, with one designed specifically for new players.
Beginner Stardust Farm in Shape of Dreams
If you’re new to the game, a quick way to collect Stardust is to repeatedly defeat the first boss on Mist. While you can use any character, Mist is generally the fastest and most reliable option for beginners.
Defeat the boss and collect the Stardust it drops, then return to the main menu. Your Stardust is automatically saved as soon as you get it, meaning you don’t need to worry about losing it if you fail or start a new game.
Mist excels thanks to her passive ability, ‘Astrid’s Masterpiece – En Garde.’ This makes her initial three attacks against an opponent stronger and creates a protective Barrier for herself. To maximize this benefit, focus on using these specific skills and Constellation Stars:
- Fleche (Skill): Dash toward a target, dealing damage and hitting them immediately after with a basic attack. This temporarily increases Mist’s movement speed, and if the target dies to Fleche, Mist heals and reduces Fleche’s cooldown by a percentage.
- Parry (Skill): Parry the first incoming instance of damage from the front within 0.6s of activating the skill, then launch a counterattack that hits up to five enemies. Targets that are hit by Parry’s counterattack are stunned, take damage, and have Astrid’s Masterwork’s cooldown timer on them reset.
- Astrid’s Smithing (Red Constellation Star): Increases Attack Damage by up to 12.
- Aggressive Stance (Red Constellation Star): Increases Attack Damage by up to 8.
- Burning Bloodlust (Red Constellation Star): Increases Attack Damage by up to 16 until the end of the second world.
- Charged Saber (Parry Augment): After parrying an attack, you gain a Barrier equal to 100% of the damage parried, and your next attack is a critical strike.
It’ll take time to master this method and achieve maximum speed, but thankfully, you can unlock all the necessary skills simply by playing and collecting Stardust with Mist.
If you’re not using Mist, it’s important to choose either Burning Bloodlust or Awakened Magic early on to greatly increase your attack damage (AD) or ability power (AP). The best choice depends on the character and the build you’re aiming for. Characters like Yubar and Bismuth, who rely on magic, will generally get more benefit from an increase in ability power.
Skilled players can defeat the first boss in just 2-3 minutes. On Deep Sleep difficulty, each successful run rewards you with 18 Stardust, allowing you to collect between 360 and 540 Stardust every hour.
The Fireball Method
Success with this strategy depends heavily on chance and the Deja Vu ability. You unlock Deja Vu after achieving a total of 50 ranks across all your characters in *Shape of Dreams*. This ability allows you to spend Stardust to buy Memories and Essences before starting a run, which might seem strange, but it’s a worthwhile investment.
Before anything else, this method involves looping, making this a fairly time-consuming method.
This item works with any character. The key is understanding the Essence of the Vortex. When attached to a Memory, it fires projectiles at nearby enemies. Higher quality Essences shoot faster. You can get a head start by equipping the Beginner’s Luck Constellation Star, which gives you a 130% Essence of the Vortex right away.
You can quickly defeat regular enemies using Essence of the Vortex and your initial abilities. As you continue, keep an eye out for these other helpful Essences:
- .Essence of Lethality: Increases the damage you deal to targets with at least 70% health.
- Essence of Adventure: Every time you enter a new room, a random Essence equipped to the Memory with Essence of Adventure will have its quality and Gold value upgraded.
First, place the Equip Adventure into a Memory slot. Then, just before entering a new room, put Vortex into the *same* Memory slot. This will allow the power of Essence of the Vortex to keep increasing as much as you like. Additionally, increasing your Lethality will make Vortex deal more damage to enemies with full health, potentially allowing you to defeat them instantly with Vortex fireballs or a quick follow-up attack using your own skills.
The Black Market Imagination Star will let you refresh merchant inventories.
The Bismuth Long Run Method
Bismuth can be incredibly effective with the correct strategy, allowing you to complete many levels and earn a lot of Stardust. Here’s what you’ll need to get started:
- Rank 15 Bismuth
- Enlightenment (Unique Bismuth Destruction Star)
- Umbral Edge (Memory)
- High Attack Speed
- High Ability Power
This Bismuth strategy focuses on maximizing her Attack Speed. She benefits greatly from increased Attack Speed due to her passive ability, Prismatic Visions, which both boosts her initial Attack Speed and adds extra magic damage to each attack. However, unlike other characters in Shape of Dreams, Bismuth doesn’t actually *use* basic attacks in the traditional sense.
If you use all your Dream Dust and upgrades on Prismatic Visions, you’ll eventually make Bismuth strong enough to easily clear rooms without much strategy.
Umbral Edge boosts your critical hit rate and adds Dark damage to your attacks. Because Bismuth will be attacking so rapidly with this build, Umbral Edge is an excellent support Memory to use. You can fill the remaining Memory slots with whatever you like, but prioritizing Memories that increase Bismuth’s attack power or speed is recommended.
During this stage, the key is to keep playing repeatedly for as long as possible. Continue starting new worlds until you feel you’ve collected enough Stardust for a good attempt. You can end a run by either entering a red circle or letting an enemy survive long enough, or you can finish by defeating the final boss or returning to the main menu.
