As you explore the various regions of Edo in Nioh 3, you’ll encounter powerful Masters who offer challenging sparring matches. Each Master has a unique fighting style, and many also use Ninjutsu and ranged attacks, requiring players to carefully plan their approach. This guide details the locations of these Masters during the Warring States period and provides helpful tips for defeating them in Nioh 3.
How to Find All Warring States Masters in Nioh 3
Lake Sanaru
- Recommended Level: 19
When you first arrive at Lake Sanaru, you’ll see an enemy ship on your left – you can choose to fight them if you like. However, to continue your search for the Master, keep going up the road, past the first shrine. After you reach the Lake Sanaru (North) Shrine, head west along the path until you find a Spirit Vein. You won’t be able to access this Spirit Vein until you advance the main story during the mission called “The Fall of Edo Castle” (which takes place during the Edo Period).
Lake Hamana
- Recommended Level: 25
When you arrive at Lake Hamana, the myth of the Disaster at Lake Hamana will start. Your goal is to appease Daidara Bocchi. You can do this by finding Horie Castle and placing a stone on the pedestal inside. After that, you can quickly travel to the Horie Castle: Outwork Shrine and then head north. Look for a path on your left – that’s the way to the Master.
Iinoya
- Recommended Level: 28
Go inside Iinoya and fast travel to the Omomiji Junction Shrine. From there, head west. When you reach a fork in the road, take the path that goes south and then east. This will lead you to where the Master is located.
Futamata
- Recommended Level: 36
Starting from the Tealeaf Village Shrine, continue along the main path towards Futamata Castle. However, don’t turn left at the key-locked door you’ll encounter during the story. Instead, take the path to the right and head up to the building where you’ll find the last Master of this time.
Tips on Beating the Masters in Nioh 3
The Masters in Nioh 3 are tough opponents, just like any challenging boss. But unlike other bosses, you don’t have to fight them right away – you can wait and become stronger before taking them on. If you prefer to fight them as soon as you find them, here are a few things you should know.
The Scampuss Soul Core is a great option because the bosses are all human and can be easily stunned. It summons two Scampusses that stick around for a while, helping to damage the boss and disrupt its attacks.
Make sure to get rid of any Soul Cores you don’t need – you’ll receive Soul Fragments, which you can use to improve your Scampuss Soul Core.
Choosing how to build your character and fight the Masters really depends on what you like. But if you’re not comfortable getting up close and perfectly timing deflections, the Ninja style is a great option. It’s often very strong because of Ninjutsu, a skill that constantly recharges during the battle.
Focus on increasing your Magic stat. This will unlock more Yin Positions, letting you equip more Talismans.
