How To Find All Winterlights Chests in Palia (Zeki’s Challenge)

As the holidays are here, Palia has released its Winterlights update, continuing its yearly tradition of transforming Kilima into a winter wonderland with snow, icicles, and festive decorations. This final update of 2025 includes special holiday challenges, new decorations for your home, and a new quest board to earn rewards and build friendships.

As soon as I started playing, I found out about this cool scavenger hunt! Zeki’s hidden a bunch of chests all over the place, but you can’t just find them – you have to solve riddles first. I was super excited to find a guide that actually tells you where all the Winterlights Chests are in Palia, so I didn’t have to spend ages figuring out the riddles myself. It basically gives you the answers to each one!

All Winterlights Chest Locations in Palia

With the December 2025 Winterlights update, players will receive a note from Zeki with seven riddles. These riddles will lead you to seven special chests hidden throughout the game. To finish the quest, you need to find and open all seven chests.

Feel free to revisit the riddles whenever you like – the book containing them is on the counter in Zeki’s shop.

First Winterlights Chest Location

One’s stayin’ hydrated by the Inn’s outer docks.

You’ll find the first chest just outside Kilima village, behind the inn. Look for Reth and Ashura working there – it’s near the docks. The docks wrap around the inn, going both under and extending from the main building.

The chest is located behind the building, next to a water tank. It’s tucked right behind the tank itself. You can find this spot at map coordinate E7.

Second Winterlights Chest Location

Two was headed to Embra but slipped on the rocks

If you’re familiar with the story of Palia, finding this chest shouldn’t be difficult. But if you don’t know who Embra is, the clue won’t make much sense. Here’s a hint: Embra is the name of the legendary phoenix in *Palia.

Head to Phoenix Falls, located in the north-central part of Kilima, to find a large statue of Embra. When you get there, look to the left of the first ramp leading up to the shrine – you’ll find it hidden among the rocks near the river. This spot is at map coordinate F4.

Third Winterlights Chest Location

Three’s by the pond and can’t find its way down.

Okay, so this clue is all about the word “pond.” It’s telling you exactly where to go for this chest. You’ll need to head over to the Mirror Pond Ruins in Kilima to find it. Seriously, focus on the pond – that’s the key!

The second part of the clue helps pinpoint the search area, which is a wide-open space. The phrase “can’t find its way down” suggests the treasure is somewhere up high. Specifically, look for a large, fallen column that’s leaning against a tree. You’ll find this spot at map coordinate D3.

Getting this chest can be a bit challenging because of where it’s located and the fact that you can’t climb the tree to reach it. The easiest way to get it is to glide towards the tree and repeatedly press the button to collect loot (F on PC).

Fourth Winterlights Chest Location

While four’s catching Zzz’s in an office in town

Knowing there’s only one building with an office in Kilima makes this chest pretty easy to locate. Head to the Town Hall – it’s where you buy Writs to expand your land and Crafting Licenses to upgrade your crafting station capacity, and the chest is nearby.

There are two offices inside the Town Hall. You might expect to find what you’re looking for in the mayor’s office (Kenli’s), given the reference to sleep, but it’s actually in Eshe’s office. Go upstairs and enter Eshe’s office – the chest is on your right as you come in. You can find this location at map coordinate F7.

Fifth Winterlights Chest Location

Five thinks it’s hidden beneath a gazebo

The fifth chest isn’t hidden all over Kilima – it’s limited to just a few spots, making the search somewhat simpler. However, it can still be surprisingly difficult to locate. The gazebo where you’ll find it isn’t far from Town Hall, where you discovered the last chest.

Head to the gazebo by Town Hall in the Village Center – it has a Christmas Tree inside. The chest is hidden among the presents under the tree. You can find this spot at map coordinate F7.

Sixth Winterlights Chest Location

Six ain’t eavesdroppin’, ask Jina, she’d know!

The sixth chest is likely the hardest to locate. The clue about Jina might be useful, but only if you’re familiar with her character. It’s important to know that Jina doesn’t live in a house in Kilima, unlike characters such as Tish, and she’s very close to Hekla.

Players should actually focus on Hekla, not Jina. Jina mentioning eavesdropping suggests she’s often near the chest. You can find the chest hidden behind Hekla’s tent in the north-western part of Kilima. It’s located at map coordinate C4.

Seventh Winterlights Chest Location

Seven’s the last, then you’ve got them all — just look in the shadows by ol’ Butterball!

The last clue is a bit tricky because ‘Butterball’ isn’t a well-known term within the game. But if you carefully examine the areas in Kilima, you’ll realize it probably refers to an animal. And there’s only one location on the map where you’ll find animals kept.

Okay, so I finally found where the last chest is! You’ll want to head to Badruu’s family farm. There are these big Ormuu creatures in a couple of pens, and you can actually keep them as pets, which is cool. But the smaller pen is where you need to focus. Inside that smaller pen, there’s a little shed, and the chest is hidden inside there. Just so you don’t miss it, the coordinates are C6 on the map.
