How to Find and Defeat Black Wind King in Black Myth: Wukong

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that the Black Wind King in Black Myth: Wukong is no walk in the park. Having tackled countless bosses in my time, this Yaoguai King proved to be one of the most challenging yet.

The Black Wind King is one of the most challenging bosses in Chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong. Not long after you take down Whiteclad Noble, you’ll run into this powerful Yaoguai King who rules over Black Wind Mountain. Despite his title, he doesn’t necessarily look like a traditional king, but rather a muscular figure with a monk-like appearance.

Glancing at the Black Wind King instantly conveys that this formidable foe is no walk in the park and overcoming him won’t come without a fight. Known as the self-proclaimed ruler of the Black Wind Peaks, he boasts an arsenal of potent abilities and mysterious powers. However, vanquishing him is crucial if you wish to unlock a new spell and continue your journey deeper into the game. Here are some strategies for defeating the Black Wind King in Black Myth: Wukong.

How To Prepare For The Black Wind King Boss Fight in Black Myth: Wukong

How to Find and Defeat Black Wind King in Black Myth: Wukong

In the opening chapter of Black Myth: Wukong, The Wind King in Black attires is compulsory foe to battle. You’ll encounter him within the depths of the Black Wind Cavern, not far from the Shrine guarded by the Keeper of the Cave Interior. As you advance through Chapter 1, this location becomes part of your natural journey. It would be beneficial to engage with the shrine as it serves as a helpful respawn spot should you perish during this boss encounter.

In the game ‘Black Myth: Wukong’, the fight against the Black Wind King occurs right after the Whiteclad Noble. This means there’s minimal time for preparation beforehand. You’ll likely have Guangzhi’s Red Tides transformation spell and a few Spirits at your disposal for battle. To boost your chances of defeating the Black Wind King, consider these strategies:

Defeat Elder Jinchi

Prior to confronting the Black Wind King, it’s worth attempting to defeat an optional boss named Elder Jinchi. To access this hidden boss, you must find and ring all three bells located throughout Chapter 1. Overcoming Elder Jinchi will grant you two valuable items: the Fireproof Mantle, which passively restores Focus, and Guanyin’s Prayer Beads, an Arms Equipment that increases your Defense by 10 points.

In a battle against the Black Wind King, having these tools at your disposal can prove beneficial. Maintaining focus is crucial for executing potent combo attacks, while the Guanyin’s Prayer Beads enhance your resistance towards the King’s assaults.

Upgrade Your Gear

Here’s another suggestion:

Using two items from the Bronze collection increases the damage dealt to the boss when he’s immobilized, and sporting four items decreases the cooldown time for your immobilize spell.

Furthermore, overcoming the Whiteclad Noble rewards you with the Jade Fang, a useful item for crafting the Twin Serpents staff. This staff subtly boosts the power of your Light Attack combo final blows.

How To Beat the Black Wind King In Black Myth: Wukong

As the Wind King in Black launches his opening move, a potent leaping jab of his spear, he temporarily halts mid-air before charging ahead, imbuing his weapon with dark wind and driving it forcefully into the ground. When he empowers his spear with the black wind, expect him to follow up with three strong slashes. Hold off on retaliating until the third strike connects, and seize your chance to counter with a Spirit Attack when an opening presents itself.

Even though he’s big, the Black Wind King moves swiftly and bridges the gap between you two in a flash. To momentarily disorient him, cast the Immobilize spell, creating an opportunity for you to strike first and rack up some Focus Points.

The King’s signature strategy is the Black Wind Attack, where he morphs into a black mist and swiftly navigates around the battlefield. Afterward, he’ll detonate and rush toward you, culminating in an area-of-effect explosion. To dodge the initial blast, it’s best to keep your distance and be ready for quick evasive maneuvers. It can be challenging, but if you use Immobilize just as he’s transforming, you can completely halt the attack.

If you successfully pin down the Black Wing King, seize the moment to strike and inflict some significant damage. Then, utilize the Red Tides Spell to morph yourself and deal a few strong blows onto the King.

Beware of charging straight towards the Black Wind King, for he might swiftly drink from his flask, ready to retaliate with a fierce blast of fire.

When the Black Wind King’s health dips under 25%, be prepared for a shift in his behavior – he’ll grow more aggressive and employ his vanishing act more frequently. He tends to reappear in combat-ready mode, so stay alert and dodge his attacks. Attempting complex attack combos or using the Immobilize spell isn’t advisable at this stage as it could lead to trouble. Instead, prioritize staying safe, recover your stamina, and wait for an opportune moment when you can strike and defeat him decisively.
