StarRuputure offers a fresh take on survival games, combining challenging mechanics with the relaxing aspects of base-building, similar to games like Satisfactory and Factorio. A key feature is the inclusion of the popular enemy from Helldivers: alien spiders, known in StarRuputure as Vermin. These creatures come in many forms, and the Goliath is particularly dangerous and difficult to defeat.
Want to learn how to defeat the tough Goliath Vermin in StarRupture and get the valuable Biological Sample they carry? You’ve come to the right place! This guide covers everything you need to know, including effective strategies, where to hit them for maximum damage, and whether it’s worth repeatedly fighting them to collect samples.
How to Find And Beat Goliath in StarRupture

The Goliath is a tough, extremely aggressive, and dangerous creature that burrows underground. It lies in wait for anyone nearby, then relentlessly pursues them across the landscape of Arcadia-7.
This creature is incredibly strong, capable of defeating unprepared players in a single hit. Despite its large size and heavy armor, it’s surprisingly fast. It has multiple attacks that classify it as a ‘Boss’ type of vermin, and it’s usually accompanied by other vermin, including Swarmers, Spitters, Exploders, and Bladers.
Large groups of these creatures are led by powerful Goliaths, making them extremely dangerous. Here’s a breakdown of what Goliaths do and how to survive their attacks.
- Defensive mode: The Goliath slows down and covers its front with its claws, turning invulnerable to fire. It will keep chasing players and, when in range, execute a charge.
- Charge: The Goliath rushes forward, causing heavy damage and pushing down players. Can be easily dodged, but those caught unguarded might be killed by the follow-up attack.
- Pincer Attack: the Goliath sweeps in front of it, or turns around in a quick 180º spin to sweep behind itself.
- Shockwave: The Goliath pounds the ground causing a shockwave that spreads in a straight line pattern, damaging everything on its path.
Okay, so dealing with a Goliath? It’s all about timing. You gotta distract it first, then move around and hit it from behind. There’s this little weak spot on its back, a gap in its armor, and you really need to focus your fire there. If you unload a couple of magazines from the LMG or assault rifle into that spot, it should go down – that’s the idea, anyway!
The main challenge is that this enemy doesn’t readily reveal its vulnerable point, making teamwork crucial. One player needs to draw its attention, while the others focus on attacking it.
Grenades aren’t effective against the large Goliath creature itself, but they can be useful for thinning out the smaller enemies that usually surround it. Use them carefully and only when those surrounding enemies become overwhelming.
If you’re playing alone, your best bet is to run! Keep running until the Goliath breaks away from the smaller enemies, and get as much distance and height as possible. Find a high vantage point and wait for the Goliath to try and climb up to you – that’s when it will be vulnerable. Attack and defeat it then.
Is it worth Farming Goliaths?
This is a great way to quickly earn Data Points because the biological samples from these creatures are worth a significant 5000 Data Points each, and every Goliath always drops at least one when defeated. However, attempting to fight multiple Goliaths simultaneously is extremely dangerous and likely to result in your own defeat.
It’s best to defeat the Goliaths individually. They frequently appear near the Sulfur Pits in the Arcadia-7 region. You can find them by heading a little northeast from the Landing Zone.
