Where To Find Rayquaza in Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC

In the Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC, you’ll unlock the ability to find Rayquaza after finishing the main story and defeating Mega Darkrai. Once you’ve done that, Corbeau will contact you again and send you on a hunt.

Find out how to catch Kyogre and its Primal form in our guide. We also have a complete walkthrough for finding and catching Groudon and Primal Groudon.

After finishing both Hyperdimension missions – making the Omega and Alpha Old-Fashioned Donuts – and successfully catching both Kyogre and Groudon, players need to talk to Corbeau again.

Okay, so Corbeau told me if I want to meet Rayquaza, I need to talk to Ansha about what’s really going on with these Distortions. I headed back to Hotel Z and told her what Corbeau said. Then, I followed the team up to the Rooftop and listened to Ansha explain everything – that’s when the Distortion actually showed up! Now, the tricky part: I need to grind out a whopping 100,000 Survey Points and report back to Corbeau at the Rust Syndicate to keep the mission moving forward.

Return to Hotel Z and speak with Ansha. Corbeau will reappear and give you the Arboliva Oil, which is the final ingredient for the Delta Old-Fashioned Donut. Once you have it, check the recipe below, bake the donut, and get ready for a challenging fight.

How to Beat Mega Rayquaza in Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC

Okay, so the Rayquaza battle is tough! It basically has two phases that are pretty similar, but you really need to pay attention because things can go wrong quickly. If you faint or run out of time, it sends you all the way back to the beginning, which is super annoying. I’m going to explain both phases, and then we can talk about how to deal with all those Mega Evolutions and what works best against them.

  • Phase 1 – Rayquaza: Will use Vast Impact, Outrage, Hyper Beam, Dragon Pulse, and a charged attack combining Hurricane and Draco Meteor that can absolutely ruin players if they’re not careful. During this phase, Rayquaza will be extremely physical and relentlessly chase the player around the arena to land Outrage or Vast Impact on them. If they move too far, they will be sniped with Hyper Beams (which this monster can shoot without rest). Lastly, once Rayquaza has received 1/4 damage, it might start charging its empowered Hurricane + Draco Meteor. Keep the Pokemon in the Poke Ball, then run around the middle counterclockwise, dodging the meteors and avoiding being such by the Hurricanes in the perimeter of the arena.
  • Phase 2 – Mega Rayquaza: Now comes the fun part. Rayquaza will spam Hyper Voice (or a similar attack), Hyper Beam, Outrage, and Brutal Swing at close range. Running towards the border of the arena is asking to be one-shotted, so avoid getting within range of its Hyper Beam/Hyper Voice barrage. When Mega Rayquaza is damaged enough, it will use Dragon Ascent, summoning a Hurricane that will suck out anything in the arena. Target the Hurricane fast, and break it down to avoid damage. If players fail to break the Hurrican on time, they’ll be slammed and, as a result, wiped out or left red, which will surely be followed by a fast Hyper Voice, blacking out the trainer.

Best Counters & Strategy For Mega Rayquaza in Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC

To get ready for this fight, players will need either a , , or . These Pokémon have been chosen specifically to help players easily defeat Mega Rayquaza.

When building Meganium, prioritize the moves Synthesis, Dazzling Gleam, and Disarming Voice. For Effort Values (EVs), focus on increasing its health and Special Attack – a good spread is 252 HP / 252 Sp. Atk / 4 Defense. This setup is designed for long battles where Meganium can wear down opponents. Use Disarming Voice to lower Rayquaza’s stats, Synthesis to stay alive, and Dazzling Gleam as your primary damaging attack once Mega Evolution is activated.

For Garchomp, the best moves are Dragon Claw, Outrage, and Swords Dance. Focus its Effort Values (EVs) on maximizing damage and a little speed – specifically, 252 HP, 252 Attack, and 4 Speed. The strategy is to use Swords Dance to boost your attack, avoid incoming damage, use Swords Dance again, then attack with Dragon Claw and Outrage. If you can, finish with Dual Chop.

For Feraligatr, use Ice Fang, Outrage, Screech, and Breaking Swipe. Focus its Effort Values on Attack and HP, with a small amount in Defense (252 HP / 252 Attack / 4 Defense). Lower Rayquaza’s Defense with Screech, then repeatedly use your attacks until it’s defeated.

For this tough battle, it’s best to stock up on Full Restores and Max Revives. It’s a really difficult fight, so keep a close eye on when your healing items will be ready to use.

During the first stage, try to stay at a medium range and constantly move around Rayquaza, focusing on getting behind it rather than letting it pursue you. Continue using attacks as described earlier to bring it down quickly. Most importantly, make sure to hold onto the Pokémon while it’s preparing its powerful Mega-charged attack.

In the second phase, timing is crucial. Players need to dodge (Y) with precise timing, as there’s a 0.4-second delay between each dodge. This gives opponents only 0.3 seconds to attack after you dodge, so make sure every attack you make hits its target.

Mega Garchomp is quicker and hits harder, but it’s also more vulnerable to Mega Rayquaza. Mega Meganium is resistant to most attacks (excluding Brutal Swing), meaning it takes very little damage.

Feraligatr will take reduced damage in its standard form and deal less damage with moves like Outrage and Breaking Swipe. However, when it Mega Evolves, it will both deal and receive increased damage. Players should keep this balance in mind when strategizing.

I’m really pushing through this, because the reward is supposed to be the absolute strongest Pokémon out there! But here’s the weird part – once you get it, you actually have to give it to Ansha. It’s a bit strange, but I’m hoping it’s worth it!

Mega Rayquaza Best Moves, EV Spread, & Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Mega Rayquaza is widely considered the strongest Pokémon in the game, boasting a massive base stat total of 780. It has incredible stats – 105 HP, 180 Attack, 100 Defense, 180 Special Attack, 100 Special Defense, and 115 Speed. This makes it a powerful and versatile attacker with both high damage output, good speed, and surprising durability, meaning it’s incredibly difficult to defeat.

Here’s a recommended moveset to complete Rayquaza’s build: Dragon Ascent (using full Mega Energy will trigger Mega Evolution), Ancient Power (for coverage and a boost to all stats), Dragon Rush (to quickly close distance), and either Brutal Swing or Hyper Voice – the best choice depends on how you distribute its Effort Values. Extremespeed and Earthquake are also strong options for Rayquaza, so feel free to consider them.

When building EVs, it’s best to maximize either Special Attack or Attack (with 252 points), then Speed (252 points), and finally HP (4 points). Alternatively, you can focus on durability by investing 252 points into HP, 252 into either Special Attack or Attack, and 4 into Speed. The best approach depends on your strategy. Match your Nature to your EV choices: use Adamant if you’re focusing on physical attacks, or Modest for special attacks.
