I’m so excited Cleffa is back in *Pokemon Legends: Z-A*! It’s seriously the cutest little Fairy-type Pokemon. Though, it’s a bit tough to find – Cleffa’s really shy and doesn’t hang out with other Pokemon in the Wild Areas. But it’s worth the effort because you can evolve it all the way to Clefairy, then Clefable, and now even into the new Mega Clefable evolution in this game! I can’t wait to add one to my team.
Looking for a good Pokemon to counter Dragon-types? Cleffa is a solid choice! This guide will show you how to catch and raise it into a strong team member. Give it a read!
How to Find Cleffa in Pokemon Legends Z-A
As a Pokémon fan, I was so excited to find Cleffa! You can usually spot it on Clear Sky days, wandering around on the rooftops of Rouge Sector 5, specifically on top of the Looker Bureau. I’ve included a map showing the exact spot. It shows up around levels 11 to 13, which is pretty early in the game, so it’s definitely catchable without too much trouble!

Cleffa, Clefairy, and Clefable are all Fairy-type Pokémon. However, when Clefable Mega Evolves, it also becomes a Flying-type, giving it an advantage against Ground-type attacks, which it then becomes immune to.
How to Evolve Cleffa in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Cleffa is an adorable Fairy-type Pokémon, but it’s more effective in battles once it evolves into Clefairy. Here’s how to evolve Cleffa:
- Put Cleffa in the active slot of the Party.
- Go to a Cafe/Tea Shop, and order some tea (preferably, Roserade Tea)
- Wait a few seconds, then press B to stop drinking with Tea with Cleffa.
- Open the menu, then check the party. A white arrow should have appeared over Cleffa. If not, repeat step 3 again.
- Evolve Cleffa into Clefairy.
Remember, Clefairy can still evolve! To get a Clefable, you’ll need a Moon Stone, which you can buy at the Stone Emporium. Here’s how to evolve Clefairy once you have it:
- Open the menu and then the Satchel.
- Scroll to the fourth tab pressing R, and scroll down to look for the Moon Stone.
- Select it. A small green tab with a tick should have appeared under Clefairy. That means the Pokemon is compatible with the Evolution Stone.
- Put it over Clefairy, then drop it to start its evolution into Clefable.
Clefable has a total of 483 Base Stats, which are distributed as follows:
- HP 95
- Atk 70
- Def 73
- SpA 95
- SpD 90
- Spe 60
Even though Clefable isn’t the strongest Pokemon overall, it’s a great choice for battling Dragon-types, which appear often in each game. With powerful Dragon-type Pokemon like Mega Ampharos, Mega Drampa, and Mega Dragonite showing up later in *Pokemon Legends Z-A*, having a strong Fairy-type like Clefable is really helpful. Plus, Clefable can Mega Evolve with the Clefablite, which you can get from Quasartico by trading 240 Mega Shards – though it’s not available until fairly late in the game.
