How to search for the Black Flame in MH Wilds Long-forgotten Flame Chapter

The Black Flame, or Nu Udra as it’s called, is situated in Oilwell Basin’s Zone 15. Since it lies beneath the Base Camp, you’ll need to move towards lower areas. Remember to have a meal before setting off and pack some cold drinks for the heat. To get from the Base Camp to Zones 9, your journey will take you through Zones 4 first.

While at Zone 4, take a right to locate a molting crater, where you can use Zone 9’s Pit Elevator.

From now on, you can directly advance to Zone 15 for an encounter with the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds.

How to defeat Black Flame in MH Wilds

To prepare for the Black Flame fight, take advantage of these weaknesses:

  • Elemental Attack Weakness: Water
  • Weakest Body Part: Mouth
  • Effective Status Effects:
    • Poison: Moderately effective
    • Sleep: Moderately effective
    • Paralysis: Least effective
    • Blastblight: Least effective
    • Stun: Moderately effective
    • Exhaust: Moderately effective
  • Effective Items:
    • Shock Trap
    • Pitfall Trap

For inflicting maximum damage, aim for its mouth using a water-based weapon; other types will also do if no water-based one is available. Since locating the mouth might be challenging, you can go for its six breakable arms instead for a more accurate shot. You’ll find plenty of opportunities to strike, given that it has multiple arms designed to be broken.

Start by targeting the arms initially, and once they manage a brief stumble, go for the mouth. Additionally, consider employing a Stun Trap to keep them immobile, allowing you to deal greater damage.

All Black Flame movesets

You must watch out for these three moves when going against the Black Flame:

  • Swings tentacles around to deal damage
  • Enters a fiery state: Unleashes flames from its mouth and throws flammable bombs
  • Performs a high-damaging body slam

When the Black Flame reaches its blazing phase, apply the Cool Drink to counteract its detrimental impact. Failing to do so may cause a gradual decrease in your health, much like the chilling effect experienced at Iceshard Cliff.

How to collect all Nu Udra parts in MH Wilds

Destroy Nu Udra by severing its six limbs and shattering its head. By successfully vanquishing this beast, you can collect these valuable rewards.

Take down Nu Udra by chopping off its arms (six of them!) and smashing its head to bits. Defeat it, and you’ll get your hands on some sweet loot!
