As you play Hytale, you’ll find lots to explore, and an important step forward is finding the Forgotten Temple, which unlocks the Memories system.
Even with all the necessary ingredients, some recipes and items in Hytale are locked until you use the Memories system. It’s a good idea to unlock these early on, and TopMob has a helpful guide to show you how.
Where to Find The Forgotten Temple in Hytale

The Forgotten Temple in Hytale always appears on your map close to where you first start a new world. It’s best to go there early in the game.
While you’re exploring in Hytale, the bar at the top of the screen shows important locations like your bed and where you last died. These appear automatically as needed. However, the location of the Forgotten Temple market is shown to you immediately when you first enter a world.
The Forgotten Temple is marked by a symbol that resembles a teleporter, as seen in the image. It’s a small white circle with four arrows pointing outwards around it.
The destination isn’t too far from where you start, but it’s still a good idea to prepare for your trip. You’ll likely run into dangerous creatures like Bears, Wolves, and Skeletons, so bring at least a simple weapon and enough food to keep your strength up.
Okay, so when you’re approaching the Forgotten Temple, you’ll want to scan the ruins for a way in – there’s an opening you need to find. There’s a statue right near it, so that’s a good landmark! Once you’re inside, go down the stairs on your left, and just keep heading towards that glowing blue portal down below. That’s where you need to go!
Watch out for the angry Golem guarding the entrance – it will attack, but thankfully it won’t chase you through the portal. This means you can run past it quickly and safely.
How to Restore Memories in Hytale
To restore Memories in Hytale, you first need to interact with the Heart of Orbis. You’ll find this unique statue directly in front of you when you arrive through the teleporter, and it’s surrounded by several plinths.
Head down the path through the Forgotten Temple, past any creatures or characters you encounter. As you get closer to the Heart of Orbis, you’ll see a blue glow. Press ‘F’ to interact with it, and a message will appear in the bottom-left corner of your screen.
You can now collect Memories! As you explore, you’ll automatically gather them from creatures, people, and enemies nearby. Just get close, and you’ll see a small blue light travel from them to you. A notification in the bottom right corner of your screen will tell you which Memory you’ve collected.
To save your Memories, go back to the Heart of Orbis in the Forgotten Temple and press the button that appears at the bottom of your screen. As you progress, you’ll also unlock rewards like new crafting recipes, extra Teleporters, and other helpful items.
