At the outset of your adventure in “Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time“, you’ll notice several fish swimming about in the ocean. Yet, initially, you won’t have a fishing rod at your disposal. This means you can’t interact with the fish right away. But fear not! When you reach a certain stage in the narrative where you can select a profession, opting for the Angler role will allow you to reel in those aquatic creatures straightaway.
In this tutorial, we’ll delve deep into the process of selecting the Angler Life and the locations for mastering fishing skills within the game “Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time”. Furthermore, we’ll provide insights on how to handle fish after catching them in your inventory.

How to Learn to Fish
After achieving the goal of meeting and conversing with King Ranoah, you’ll subsequently be directed to the Guild Headquarters where you can select your initial Life. The location will be clearly indicated on your map using a red exclamation mark, making it easy for you to locate.
Approach Auntie Anne behind the counter, and she will give you the opportunity to select one of the 14 options available (two are currently unavailable). If you opt for the Angler, you’ll be assigned a mission that will instruct you on how to fish.
Remember that you have the ability to move between different lives, however, it’s important to note that you must reach the ‘Apprentice’ level or ‘Fledgling Rank’ in your current profession before transitioning to another.

You Can Sell the Fish!
After transitioning to the role of an Angler, you will receive the “Fish, Cat, and Angler” Novice Quest. To start this adventure, simply find and speak with the experienced fisherman known as Angler Master Gramps.
He’ll instruct you to converse with Sardino outside, who in turn will tell you to catch three sardines for him, as there are plenty of them around the docks. So, no need to venture too far!
You can find the Angler’s Guild at the docks east of the main Guild Office.
- Press A (Xbox) – F (PC) near the fish to ready your fishing rod.
- Then, press the same button to hook the fish once it grabs the lure.
- You can continue to press the same action button to reel the fish in to “deal damage.”
- You can also use the Power Reel to do extra damage, but be careful with your SP (blue bar underneath the health). You also don’t want the line to break, so try to adjust the line so that there’s not too much tension.
As a gamer, once I manage to net the trio of Sardines, I find myself chatting up ol’ Sardino. He confides that these fish could fetch me some extra Dosh if I were to take ’em to the Capital. Sounds like I’ll get 200 coins for those tasty Sardines!
Upon arriving at the merchant, a girl will subsequently request that you converse with a feline residing in the Capital. This cat will guide you towards the location of the unique fish the girl seeks. Proceed to the nearby wharf to snare it.
1. “You should let Grandpa know so you can advance to Fledgling status.”
2. “If you switch roles within the Guild, you’ll have the ability to fish whenever you like.”
