The southern substation on Paradise Island is broken, and fixing it is important if you want to get a powerful early weapon in The Outer Worlds 2. While the repair seems straightforward, you’ll need to have developed your Outer Worlds 2 character in a certain way to even be able to get the repair kit.
How to Get The Southern Substation Repair Kit in The Outer Worlds 2
You can find the Substation Repair Kit inside the main substation building in The Outer Worlds 2 – it’s the same building with the rooftop panel you need to fix. The doors are locked, so you’ll need to open the vent grate on the outside to get in. Once inside, the kit is sitting on a table.
The grate is located right beside an automech cabinet. To open it, you’ll need to either be Sneaky enough (level 2 Sneak skill) or have the Nimble trait. If you didn’t choose Nimble at the start, you can still improve your Sneak skill by completing quests on Paradise Island. But if you chose the Dumb flaw, which prevents you from improving Sneak, you won’t be able to open it.
Remember, each time you level up, you can invest points into skills, even those you haven’t used much yet. For example, if your Sneak skill is at zero, a single level up can raise it to two.
How to Repair the Southern Substation in The Outer Worlds 2
With the Substation Repair Kit in hand, return to the rooftop panel and use the kit to fix it. After the repair is complete, go back down and you’ll find the door to the main substation building has opened. Go inside and charge the Substation Fuse using the charging station in the main room – you’ll find it near the janitor bot.
Place the Charged Substation Fuse into the machine near the auxiliary building within the substation grounds. This will unlock the building, allowing you to find a Corrosive Shock Machine Gun and other items inside.
The Corrosive Shock Machine Gun is really effective against groups and enemies in The Outer Worlds 2 who rely on robots and strong armor. Just keep in mind that most creatures aren’t affected by corrosive damage. It’s still worth bringing along, though – you can easily switch weapons to deal with whatever you’re facing.
