How to Fix the Problem Bar in My Winter Car

Many players familiar with My Summer Car assume My Winter Car will focus on managing food and fuel to survive. However, My Winter Car adds a new “Problem Bar” that’s causing confusion. This often leads to players making errors, dying unexpectedly, or thinking there’s a bug in the game.

I have to admit, when I first saw the Problem Bar, I thought it was just a fancy way of showing how thirsty you were. But it’s so much more than that! It doesn’t really seem to fill up when you drink water, and it drains at a weird, unpredictable rate. Honestly, if you just ignore it, bad things happen. I’m really trying to figure out exactly what this bar means and how to keep it under control, so let me explain what I’ve learned.

What is the Problem Bar in My Winter Car?

As a long-time fan, I’ve been learning about the changes to how the game handles… well, keeping my character going. They’ve completely gotten rid of the old thirst mechanic! Instead of worrying about just water, it’s now all about how much my character relies on things like alcohol and caffeine, plus how tired and stressed they are. That’s why drinking water doesn’t work like it used to – it’s not about hydration anymore, it’s a much more complex system!

As the Problem Bar increases, your character will start experiencing negative consequences from addiction and fatigue. If you don’t address these issues, things can rapidly become critical.

How to Reduce the Problem Bar in My Winter Car

The thirst bar doesn’t actually measure how thirsty your character is, so drinking water doesn’t fill it up anymore. While water still keeps you alive, it won’t affect the system that controls the thirst bar.

The primary way to decrease the Problem Bar is by drinking alcohol. Beer noticeably lowers the meter, and other alcoholic beverages have a similar effect.

While energy drinks can slightly lower the Problem Bar, alcohol is the most effective way to do so. Water, however, doesn’t have much of an impact, and this is by design, not a mistake.

From the start of the game, it’s clear your character struggles with alcohol. Empty beer bottles are everywhere in your apartment, and there’s even a message about it on your parents’ refrigerator. The game also makes it easy to drink, as beer is affordable and readily available. You can visually see your character’s condition worsen each time they drink.
