In Crimson Desert, the Shield of Unchanging Will 5 is a powerful artifact you can unlock from the Sealed Abyss. To get it, you need to flip five enemies using your shield. This shield-flipping mechanic is explained only briefly in the game, so it’s easy to miss. Here’s a breakdown of how it works.
Okay, so I finally found the Shield of Unchanging Will! It’s a Sealed Abyss Artifact and it was a bit hidden. Basically, head east from Demeniss and look for a pile of rocks – it’s right under the ‘D’ in Demeniss when you’re looking at the map. I followed the road in the screenshot, and then checked under the trees north of the farmhouse. That’s where it was hiding!
How to Flip 5 Enemies with a Shield in Crimson Desert
Shield of Unchanging Will 5
In Crimson Desert, if you approach an enemy with a shield while wielding a sword and shield, you can flip them over your head. To do this on PlayStation 5, press L1 + R2. On Xbox, use LB + RT. And on PC, press CTRL + Right-Click with your mouse.
The shield flip only happens when you’re extremely close to an enemy – almost touching them. If you’re even a little bit further away, your character will do a regular shield bash instead of flipping the shield around and hitting them.
If you’ve unlocked the Shield Parry skill through Keen Sense level 3, it will automatically take over from the shield flip if an enemy attacks you up close with a melee weapon, as long as you’re within parry range.
You can only flip enemies using round shields. Larger shields can only bash or parry. If you don’t have a better shield, the standard Grey Wolf Wooden Shield will work for flipping.
Sometimes, if you knock an enemy back with a normal Shield Bash, it will also trigger the special effect of this Sealed Abyss Artifact, as if you had performed a shield flip.
Shield of Unchanging Will 5 Rewards in Crimson Desert
Once you’ve successfully knocked back five enemies using your shield, you can open the Sealed Abyss Artifact. This will reward you with an Abyss Artifact and a piece of Fortitude 1 Abyss Gear, which reduces shield stamina cost by 3.0%. You can equip Fortitude 1 in an empty Abyss Gear slot on your Shields, Gloves, or Footwear.
