Air vehicles like planes and helicopters are key to playing on the bigger maps in Battlefield 6. A skilled pilot can really change the outcome of a match by accurately targeting enemies. But mastering these vehicles takes practice, and there aren’t many available in each game, adding to the challenge.
Like any skill, flying takes practice, but it’s tough to learn in *Battlefield 6* when someone else is always using the only jet. This guide will show you where to practice flying and give you some tips to become a better pilot.
How to Practice Flying in Battlefield 6
Right now, Battlefield 6 Portal is the best place to practice flying planes and helicopters. Players have already created lots of custom games specifically designed for learning how to control air vehicles.
First, click on the “Community” tab in the main menu, and then select “Browse Servers”. This will show you a list of all available servers in your area. Check to see if any of them are hosting air vehicle training sessions, and join one if you find one.
If you prefer to practice on your own, you can create your own Portal Experience. Simply find a practice server using the server browser, then click the “View Server Info” button next to the Experience’s description. In the information window that appears, scroll down and choose “Host/Host Locally”.
Official game modes, run on dedicated servers, have modified rules and award full XP. You can’t run these on your own computer. Custom game modes, which *can* be hosted locally, help you avoid the “Global Game Quota Exceeded Error” in Battlefield 6. Keep in mind that you won’t earn XP at the normal rate when playing custom modes compared to official, verified modes.
Here are a few Portal Experience codes you can try for practicing/testing air vehicles:
- DXS4: Vehicle and Soldier Shooting Range by AP_Atipoya
- 6GVY: Helicopter and Jets Practice by Tricky
- X8XB: Ace Pursuit by Battlefield Official
To redeem these codes, navigate to Search Experiences and enter them in the box labeled “Experience Code” located on the left side of the screen.
How to Get Jets & Helis in Battlefield 6
When playing standard Battlefield 6 modes, you can jump straight into a helicopter or jet from the starting screen by selecting the vehicle icon at your team’s base. Keep in mind that the number of available vehicles changes depending on the game mode and map. If you’re eager to fly, we suggest trying Escalation on either Operation Firestorm or Mirak Valley.
Firestorm and Mirak Valley offer spacious areas to play, and both maps include jets and helicopters. As the match goes on, your team will be able to use both types of vehicles.
Instead of simply spawning inside them, players will now have to run to and enter air vehicles at the beginning of each match.
Piloting Tips
- Go to Settings—>Gameplay—>Vehicles, then turn on Helicopter Control Assists. This will make it so your helicopter automatically hovers when no control input is detected.
- If you’re playing on mouse and keyboard, consider rebinding your jet controls. Binding Yaw to horizontal mouse movement may help you line your shots up when going for a strafing run.
- Use Free Look to scope out targets.
- Always pay attention to the map. Before you go in for a strafing run, you should already know where your targets are.
- Focus enemy aircraft and anti-air vehicles first. Make sure to hunt them down before going for more vulnerable targets.
- When piloting a jet, know your ideal speed values for faster turning.
- Anti-air missiles have infinite vertical lock-on range. If you’re trying to escape a lock, move horizontally away from the enemy instead.
