Few sensations during gaming are as satisfying as reaching the next level. Granted, it doesn’t follow a traditional leveling system, but acquiring new tools or weapons still delivers that same rush of satisfaction.

When you reach the later stages of the game, weapon and tool enhancements become increasingly rare. After you’ve upgraded your gear to Iridium, what do you have left for further improvements?

Luckily, in the later game setting known as Ginger Island, there’s a choice available: the Volcano Forge. This spot enables you to strengthen weapons through forging and to boost both weapons and tools with enchantments. You can even elevate already powerful items further here.

How To Reach The Forge

That said, getting to the Forge is a bit of a chore.

1st, make sure you have access to Ginger Island, which can be achieved either by completing Joja’s Community Development Projects or another method. Once that’s done, locate the boat situated at the back of a particular shop. To mend it, you’ll need to provide him with 200 Wood, 5 Copper Bars, and 5 Steel Bars.

Upon reaching Ginger Island, simply navigate northward from the docks. Initially, a colossal turtle obstructs your path; however, upon finishing the initial narrative interaction, it will vacate the area for you to proceed further.

Continue moving northwards beyond Island Trader and the Excavation Spot, and eventually, you’ll come across the volcano. However, the following part necessitates some exertion.

Step into the thrilling realm I call the Volcano Dungeon! Each floor is shrouded in mystery, brimming with formidable foes, hazards, and hidden riches. Remember to carry your trusty Watering Can with you on this journey. You’ll find it indispensable for constructing a bridge over the molten lava and venturing deeper into its fiery depths.

Unlike my endless journeys through Skull Cavern, the Volcano Dungeon boasts a more manageable 10 levels. The final floor, the very heart of the volcano, is its caldera, and nestled within is none other than the Forge itself.

When it’s time for us to part ways, ensure you safely descend the western staircase. Remember, there’s no need to rush or teleport. At the foot of those stairs, you’ll find a gate near the dungeon entrance that can be opened, providing direct access to the Forge during your upcoming visits.

Using The Forge

To work in the Forge, whether crafting or spellcasting, it is necessary to obtain
something from the dungeon to do so. Depending on your purpose, you may additionally require either a gemstone or another specific item.

You can also utilize the Forge not only for weapons and tools, but also to craft items. Personally, I prefer using the Forge to craft armor pieces with reinforced materials for enhanced survivability.

Forging Weapons

Enhancing a weapon increases its capabilities or unique features. The boost is determined by the kind of gemstone chosen. A weapon can be enhanced up to three times, either by applying one enhancement multiple times or distributing them evenly.

Initially, crafting a weapon will set you back 10 Cinder Shards. The second one will cost 15, and the third (the last one) will be 20, making the total cost 45. Alternatively, if you’re willing to take a chance, you can use a Lucky Charm for just 10 shards to receive three random bonuses.

If you successfully gather three specific items,

you can use them along with the Galaxy Sword to craft the game’s most powerful weapon – the

Crafting this weapon requires 20 Cinder Shards for each attempt, amounting to a total of 60.

Creating Enchantments

Employing the Forge for the enchantment of a weapon or tool will invariably set you back 20 Cinder Shards. Typically, there’s also a requirement for additional items to complete the process.

Enchantments are constantly shuffled. When you apply an enchantment to an item again, the existing enchantments get swapped out โ€“ the old ones are not part of the new random selection process. As for weapons and tools, they maintain their enchantments after being crafted (forging) or improved (upgrading).

Enchanting Weapons

As a gamer, I can personally attest that each melee weapon I wield comes with a unique combat enhancement. These enhancements grant extraordinary abilities, with the exception of Haymaker, they significantly boost my performance in battle.

Alas, the

currently can’t be enchanted.

Combat Enchantment Effect
Artful 50% cooldown reduction for special abilities (like blocking).
Bug Killer Double damage to bugs. Also, you can finally kill those armored bugs!
Crusader +50% damage to ghosts, mummies, etc. Plus, you can kill mummies without using bombs!
Haymaker Cutting weeds has a 50% chance of dropping fiber, and a 33% chance of dropping hay. Yay.
Vampiric 9% chance to gain health after a kill equal to 10% of the monster’s max HP.

Furthermore, even less potent weapons may possess an inherent magic. This magical property grants advantages proportional to the weapon’s rank. However, the Galaxy Sword and its kin are so mighty that they don’t qualify for this inherent magic. To be truthful, it does seem reasonable.

Instead of requiring a Prismatic Shard, what you need is a Crystal Fragment. You can obtain these fragments either by venturing into the Volcano dungeon and defeating a Lava Creature, or from a pond filled with nine fish.

Here’s another way to put it:
You don’t need a Prismatic Shard, but rather a Crystal Fragment. You can gather these fragments in one of two ways: by exploring the Volcano dungeon and eliminating a Lava Lurk, or from a pond that contains nine fish.

Slime Slayer Increases damage against slimes by 33%.
Weight Reduces the weapon’s Weight, reducing knockback. (Handy for dealing a lot of damage with daggers.)

Enchanting Tools

In Stardew Valley, the Forge allows you to enhance your tools with useful upgrades that make daily tasks easier. These improvements are beneficial even if you don’t spend much time mining in Skull Cavern for Mr. Qi’s special orders. In fact, these tool enchantments can be quite helpful during the tougher challenges of the end game.
