How To Get A Horse In The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom

As a seasoned adventurer who’s lost count of the number of hours spent traversing Hyrule, I can wholeheartedly say that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has outdone itself with its expansive map. And oh, the horses! They’re not just a mode of transport but a faithful companion on this grand odyssey.

In the expansive world of “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” the map has grown even larger than before. This opens up a vast landscape for players to traverse. Although various transportation options are available, acquiring and taming a horse proves to be one of the simplest and most dependable ways to travel around this grand realm.

In the early stages of play, you can acquire a horse quite easily, but there’s a condition: you must locate a stable first, where you can register your horse. The registration process for horses is relatively inexpensive, allowing players to utilize stables and ride a horse immediately if desired.

For an effortless experience in acquiring and registering a horse, start by locating a nearby stable. These stables are easily identifiable on the map with a horse icon, and can be further pinpointed using Skyview towers to mark their locations. Once you’ve found a stable, explore surrounding open areas like fields and plains, as they often house wild horses. Capturing enemy horses is another option once their riders have been defeated, but locating wild ones is generally the more straightforward choice.

As a passionate gamer, when I spot a steed that catches my eye, I can choose between two strategies: a daring charge or a cautious sneak-up. The head-on dash might seem exciting, but it’s rather unpredictable and could end with a swift kick if I’m not quick enough. However, if I’ve got the speed, I might just make it. Once I’m close, remember to press A to climb aboard and attempt to tame the horse.

Keep gently pressing the ‘L’ key to calm down the horse. Every now and then, as you soothe it, hearts may appear around the horse, indicating that it is beginning to form a connection with you. As this bond strengthens, the horse will become less likely to throw you off and can be safely guided back to the closest stable for registration.

  • Strength
  • Speed
  • Stamina
  • Pull

For a modest amount of Rupees, you can register your horse and have it ready for you at any stable you visit, ensuring its availability. From the same window at the stable, you can swap horses: either take out a new one to ride or store your current active horse for later use. Remarkably, your horses are stored in all stables concurrently, allowing you to retrieve a stored horse from any stable location.

You’re welcome to take your horse out and keep it boarded whenever you desire, without any charges or penalties. To call your current horse, simply press down on the directional pad wherever you are. If you happen to leave your horse somewhere, you can easily summon it using your whistle from any location, making horses highly versatile for any circumstance.
