The Soothe Bell is a helpful item in Pokemon Legends: Z-A that quickly increases a Pokemon’s Happiness. Players aiming to evolve Pokemon that require high Happiness will want to find this item to speed up the process.
The Soothe Bell isn’t too hard to get, but you’ll need to make some progress in the game’s story before it becomes available. Here’s how to find it:
How to Get a Soothe Bell in Pokemon Legends Z-A
You can earn a Soothe Bell in Pokemon Legends: Z-A by finishing the side quest “Some Friendly Competition” (Side Mission 36). This quest unlocks after you complete Canari’s Quiz during the main story (Mission 14), which then lets you battle Canari and reach Rank E in the ZA Royale.
You’ll receive Side Mission 36 from Chou, a trainer located right outside Cafe Rouleau, near the entrance to Wild Zone 9. She’s sitting on the sidewalk seats in front of the cafe.
The goal is straightforward: win a one-on-one Pokémon battle against Chou by defeating his two Pokémon. If you succeed, the trainer will give you a reward.

How to Use the Soothe Bell in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
To use the Soothe Bell, here’s what you need to do:
- Place the Pokemon whose friendship you want to increase in your party.
- Open your Satchel and tab over to “Other Items.”
- Scroll down to find the Soothe Bell and press A.
- Select “Give to Pokemon.”
- Use the left stick to navigate to the Pokemon and press A again to have it hold the item.
When a Pokémon is holding a Soothe Bell, actions that make it happier will have a bigger effect. For instance, winning a battle with a Pokémon equipped with the Soothe Bell will raise its happiness more than if it wasn’t holding the item.
Our tests show that the Soothe Bell gives a 50% boost to actions that increase a Pokémon’s Happiness in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, just like in other Pokémon games. Normally, it takes six cups of Roserade Tea to fully maximize a Pokémon’s Happiness. However, when a Pokémon is holding a Soothe Bell, you only need three Roserade Teas to achieve the same result.
