Advanced Decryption Keys are hard to find in The Outer Worlds 2, and that’s intentional. These keys unlock access to powerful weapons, valuable loot, and helpful tools that can significantly improve combat for you and your crew. This guide will cover everything you need to know about finding Advanced Decryption Keys and how to use them to boost your firepower throughout the game.
How to Get More Advanced Decryption Keys in The Outer Worlds 2
You can get Advanced Decryption Keys by buying a limited number from vendors or finding them while exploring the game world. Usually, you’ll find them by searching buildings for locked chests and containers that require lockpicking, a keycard, or another way to bypass security.
You can find one of these keys inside the Skycutter A102 building on Paradise Island. Go downstairs and look in the back right corner for a locked box. It needs five cards to open, and you can find all of them on bodies inside the building. Once you have the cards, go back and open the box to get the Advanced Decryption Key.
You can buy Advanced Decryption Keys from vending machines located around the game worlds and inside buildings, or directly from shopkeepers. They typically cost 1,000 Credits.
If you have a negative trait such as ‘Consumerism,’ it will lower the cost of Advanced Decryption Keys. For instance, with that trait, the price will be reduced by 15%, bringing it down to 850 Credits.
What to Do with Advanced Decryption Keys in The Outer Worlds 2
After getting the keys, go back to the Incognito and find the machine in the corridor leading to and from the ship. You can use the Advanced Decryption Keys to open the High Security Lockboxes there. Keep in mind that each lockbox needs a different number of keys – some might only need three, while others need as many as eight. Use the arrow buttons on the left side of the machine to switch between the lockboxes.
It’s a good idea to purchase Advanced Decryption Keys whenever they’re available, if you have the resources. Also, be sure to search buildings and caves carefully for chests or secret spots – you might find one hidden there.
