This page includes significant spoilers for Life is Strange: Reunion, starting from the very beginning—proceed with caution if you haven’t played!
The ending you get in Life is Strange: Reunion depends on two choices: whether you saved everyone from the fire at Caledon, and what Chloe does with the photo – she either burns it or gives it to Max. Although there are four possible outcomes, two of them are identical. Burning the photo always leads to the same result, regardless of whether you saved everyone at Caledon.
Want to know how to unlock all the different endings in Life is Strange: Reunion? This guide details exactly how to get each of the three endings and what makes them unique. Be warned: it contains significant spoilers, as it explains how each ending is achieved and what happens at the very end of the game.
How to Get Ending 1 in Life is Strange Reunion
You get the first ending in Life is Strange: Reunion by:
- Saving everyone from the fire.
- Giving the photo to Max.
To successfully complete Life is Strange: Reunion, you need to correctly identify and accuse the two people who started the fire, calm Safi down, and ensure Jeannette, Noelle, and Anthony survive. If you do this, Chloe won’t have any reason to send Max back in time when she offers the photo in the “Partners in Time” scene.
The first ending of the game shows Max and Chloe happily traveling, likely on a road trip, and a photo taken by Max is visible. The very last images depict Max holding that photo while also holding a lighter, suggesting she destroys it by burning it.
In LIS: Reunion, discovering all ten optional evidence locations will reveal who started the fire, helping you make the right choices in the ‘Chloe’s Choice’ and ‘Max’s Choice’ scenes. It also earns you the ‘Major Gumshoe’ trophy or achievement.
How to Get Ending 2 in Life is Strange Reunion
You get the second ending in Life is Strange: Reunion by:
- Not saving everyone from the fire.
- Giving the photo to Max.
If the “Wall of Heroes” doesn’t appear outside the Snapping Turtle during the memorial scene, it indicates someone died in the fire. This causes Max to attempt time travel to prevent their death, but only if Chloe gives her the photo at the end of the game during the “Partners in Time” scene.
In Ending 2’s Epilogue, we first see Max and Chloe enjoying themselves at a music studio and later happily together in a motel room. The scene then shifts to a more somber tone, showing Chloe crying alone in bed and Max looking at a picture while gazing at Caledon University. If you chose to pursue a romantic relationship with Chloe during the game, the Epilogue concludes with them sharing a final kiss goodbye.
How to Get Ending 3 in Life is Strange Reunion
In Life is Strange: Reunion, you unlock the third ending by destroying the photograph as Chloe during the “Partners in Time” scene. It doesn’t matter if you previously saved everyone from the fire; burning the photo prevents Max from having to choose whether or not to travel back in time. The only consequence (that isn’t shown in the game) is that Chloe would live knowing Max could have saved people who died in the fire, though it’s never made clear if intervening would have created more problems.
In Ending 3, Max and Chloe revisit places they know well in Arcadia Bay, like the diner where Chloe’s mom works, the junkyard, and the bench near the lighthouse. If you chose to pursue a romantic relationship with Chloe, the scene on the bench includes a kiss.
What is the Best Ending in Life is Strange Reunion?
The ‘best’ ending really depends on your preference. Do you want Max and Chloe to end up happily together with complete honesty, or do you think it’s better if Chloe makes a difficult choice to spare Max? If you prefer honesty, go for Ending 1 – save everyone and have Chloe reveal the truth about the photo. But if you’d rather Chloe take the weight of a decision, choose Ending 3 and burn the photo, even if it means some characters don’t survive.
Regardless of how it happens, Ending 2 is considered the unhappy one. Not only are there casualties in the fire, but Max abandons this version of Chloe by traveling back in time. It’s unclear if she’d ever be able to reconnect with this specific Chloe, even if she manages to save everyone from the blaze.
