How to Get and Use Nobelisk in Satisfactory

How to Get and Use Nobelisk in Satisfactory

As a seasoned Satisfactorian with years of experience under my belt, let me share some insights on the mighty Nobelisk charges. These little bundles of explosive joy are indeed a game-changer, especially when you’re faced with those pesky Spitters or Hatchers.

In the game Satisfactory, you can construct structures over or nearby most impediments using foundations and ramps. However, certain paths and hidden areas can only be accessed by blasting the rocks that obstruct them. It’s situations like these where explosive charges, known as Nobelisk in recognition of Alfred Nobel, prove particularly useful.

Nobelisk charges are also handy when you need to destroy toxic towers, and they’re incredibly useful against certain types of enemies. However, Satisfactory isn’t completely clear when it comes to how you can unlock this useful tool, and it comes in several varieties that each has its own unique properties. Read on to learn where to start.

How to Unlock and Craft Every Nobelisk Charge

How to Get and Use Nobelisk in Satisfactory

In the game ‘Satisfactory’, the initial explosive you should unravel is the fundamental Nobelisk charge. You can locate it on the left part of the Sulfur study tree within the MAM. The research symbol is a detonator, however, this project also enables the basic (red) Nobelisk charge. To finish and utilize this research, you’ll need a consistent supply of both sulfur and coal as the necessary items are:

  • 50 Black Powder
  • 100 Steel Pipes
  • 200 Cables

Additionally, you may encounter research tasks that unveil various types of Nobelisk explosives, each with unique consequences. However, it’s important to note that you won’t be able to accomplish any of these projects until you’ve successfully completed the Nobelisk Detonator task first.

How and When to Use Nobelisk Charges

How to Get and Use Nobelisk in Satisfactory

To employ Nobelisk charges, start by putting the Nobelisk detonator into one of your available hand slots. Once the detonator is your current item, you can either press the reload key (usually R) to retrieve a fresh Nobelisk charge or hold down the reload key to toggle between the different types of Nobelisk ammo stored in your inventory.

Ready your charge! To launch it, simply click (or default left mouse button) once for a quick throw, or hold down and drag for a longer distance. Regardless of the charge type you choose, the Nobelisk will adhere to any surface or creature it strikes. Repeat the action to equip and toss additional charges whenever needed.

To set off an explosive, click the right mouse button. Remember, clicking once will cause every bomb you toss to go off simultaneously, so make sure you’re at a safe distance before doing so. Additionally, bombs can detonate if hit by a Spitter’s ranged attack or if damaged by a Pioneer’s weapon.

Black powder is a cheap resource once you find a reliable source of coal and sulfur, and you can combine coal and iron ore to craft the steel pipes you need to build a supply of Nobelisk charges. You can stack up to 50 Nobelisk charges in a single inventory space, which makes it a viable weapon to use against aggressive animals. However, the slow throwing windup makes Nobelisk more useful against slower enemies like Spitters and Hatchers. For Hogs and Stingers, you’re better off using other weapons.

Other uses for Nobelisk charges include:

  • Destroying boulders and walls. However, Nobelisk only works on boulders with large, dark cracks.
  • Destroying foliage. However, doing so means you don’t get any of the leaves, wood, or mycelia you’d get from harvesting foliage by hand or with the chainsaw.
  • Killing spore flowers. These creatures resist normal damage types, but you can destroy them using explosives.
  • Exploding poison pillars. Pillars destroyed with Nobelisk charges won’t come back, which lets you explore new areas without worrying about gas mask filters.
  • Rapid movement. You can throw a pulse Nobelisk onto the underside of a one-meter foundation, stand on the foundation, and then explode it to use the shockwave to propel yourself into the air. The foundation blocks the damage without blocking the movement, giving you a way to safely fly into the sky. Just make sure you have a jetpack or parachute equipped so you can safely land.
  • Nobelisk can’t deal damage to most constructed objects, including foundations, machinery, and vehicles.
