In the game Hytale, Azure Petals, Blood Petals, and Storm Petals are essential materials used to upgrade a Farmer’s Workbench to its highest levels. Because of this, players often seek these items during the endgame.
Getting enough petals can be challenging. You need a lot – exactly 300 of each type – to fully upgrade the Farmer’s Workbench, and they aren’t very common. So, it’s not just about where to find Azure, Blood, and Storm Petals, but how to collect them efficiently. Here’s a guide to help you farm large quantities.
How to Get Azure Petals in Hytale
In Hytale, you can get Azure Petals by harvesting Azure Kelp, Azure Ferns, or Azurecap Mushrooms with Shears, a Pickaxe, or a Hatchet. These plants all glow blue at night, making them easy to find, even from a distance. Azure Kelp glows the brightest, followed by Azurecap Mushrooms, and then Azure Ferns, which have the faintest glow.
Azure Kelp Location
You can find Azure Kelp in the water ponds of Azure forests, which are bright blue areas on the map, specifically in the Emerald Grove (Zone 1).
Azurecap Mushroom Location
You can often find Azurecap Mushrooms near the riverbanks in Emerald Grove (Zone 1), particularly in the red forests. They also grow near small ponds and pools in the desert area known as Howling Sands (Zone 2).
Azure Fern Location
You can find Azure Ferns in the water within the Howling Sands, the desert area. They’re quite rare, so you’ll need to do a lot of exploring to come across them.
Avoid picking up Azure Kelp, Azure Fern, or Azurecap Mushrooms directly. If you do, you’ll receive the entire item instead of the valuable Azure Petals.
Azure Kelp, Azurecap Mushroom, and Azure Fern Seed Recipes
When you harvest Azure Kelp, Azurecap Mushrooms, or Azure Ferns, you have a small chance of learning the recipe to create their corresponding seeds. Once you learn these recipes, you can use a Farmer’s Workbench to craft the seeds and grow these plants yourself. This is the best way to get a lot of Azure Petals.
| Item | Crafting Station | Recipe |
|---|---|---|
| Azure Kelp Seed Bag | Farmer’s Workbench Tier 10 |
|
| Azurecap Spores | Farmer’s Workbench Tier 9 |
|
| Azure Fern Seed Bag | Farmer’s Workbench Tier 8 |

You can get Blue Crystal Shards by mining the blue crystals that grow on the ceiling of the jungle area in the Devastated Lands (Zone 4).
How to Get Blood Petals in Hytale
In Hytale, you can get Blood Petals by harvesting Blood Leaf, Blood Rose, or Bloodcap Mushroom with Shears, a Pickaxe, or a Hatchet. These plants are easy to find at night because they all glow red. Blood Leaves glow the brightest, then Bloodcap Mushrooms, and Blood Roses have the faintest glow.
Blood Rose Location
You can find Blood Roses growing in the forests of Emerald Grove (Zone 1), along the edges of the Whisperfrost Frontiers (Zone 3), and in the burnt forests of the Devastated Lands (Zone 4).
Blood Leaf Location
You can find Blood Leaves in the dense forests of Emerald Grove (Zone 1) and growing on small pillars in certain areas of the Howling Sands (Zone 2).
Bloodcap Mushroom Location
You can find Bloodcap Mushrooms in the red forest area of Emerald Grove (Zone 1), usually close to the orange glowing mushrooms. They also grow where you find Blood Leaves, but there aren’t as many mushrooms as there are leaves.
Don’t hand-collect Blood Leaves, Blood Roses, or Bloodcap Mushrooms. If you do, you’ll receive the entire item instead of the Blood Petals you need.
Blood Leaf, Blood Rose, and Bloodcap Mushroom Recipes
When you harvest Blood Leaves, Bloodcap Mushrooms, or Blood Roses, there’s a small chance you’ll learn how to craft their seeds. Once you learn a seed recipe, you can use a Farmer’s Workbench to create the seeds and grow these plants yourself. This is the best way to get a lot of Blood Petals.
| Item | Crafting Station | Recipe |
|---|---|---|
| Blood Leaf Seed Bag | Farmer’s Workbench Tier 10 |
|
| Bloodcap Spores | Farmer’s Workbench Tier 9 |
|
| Blood Rose Seed Bag | Farmer’s Workbench Tier 8 |

Okay, so if you’re looking for Red Crystal Shards, you gotta head to the Devastated Lands – that’s Zone 4 on the map. Just mine the red crystals you find right on the surface, and you’ll get them!
How to Get Storm Petals in Hytale
In Hytale, you can get Storm Petals by harvesting Storm Saplings, Stormcap Mushrooms, or Storm Thistles. You’ll need to use Shears, a Pickaxe, or a Hatchet to gather them. Storm Saplings are easy to find at night because they shine with a bright yellow light. Stormcap Mushrooms and Storm Thistles also glow yellow, but their light is more subtle.
Storm Sapling and Stormcap Mushroom Location
You can find Storm Saplings and Stormcap Mushrooms in the desert mountains of Howling Sands (Zone 2), usually close to the highest points.
Storm Thistle Location
You can find Storm Thistles growing either at the base of desert dunes or on the highest peaks in the Emerald Grove (Zone 1). Because they’re very rare, it might take a lot of searching to discover them.
Okay, so I learned the hard way – don’t actually pick up those Storm Saplings, Stormcap Mushrooms, or Storm Thistles! If you do, you’ll just get the whole plant instead of the Storm Petals we need. You gotta let the game handle collecting the petals, apparently!
Storm Sapling, Stormcap Mushroom, and Storm Thistle Recipes
When you harvest Storm Saplings, Stormcap Mushrooms, or Storm Thistles, you have a small chance to learn the recipe for their corresponding seed. Once you learn a recipe, you can craft the seed at a Farmer’s Workbench and grow the plant yourself. This is the best way to get a lot of Storm Petals.
| Item | Crafting Station | Recipe |
|---|---|---|
| Storm Sapling Seed Bag | Farmer’s Workbench Tier 10 |

You can get Yellow Crystal Shards by mining the yellow crystals that grow on the ceiling of the jungle area in the Devastated Lands (Zone 4).
