How to Get Blue Skin in Heartopia

With winter arriving in Heartopia, the island is transforming with new events, creatures, and items. Players will also encounter a strange winter illness called Frostspore Infection. Don’t worry, though – this ‘illness’ is actually how you unlock a special reward: the Frostbitten blue skin for your avatar!

What is Frostspore Infection in Heartopia?

I first heard about Frostspore Infection when I was doing those early quests that led into the Frostwave Event. It’s cool how Annie and other townspeople started talking about it – apparently, the super cold weather is causing strange things to happen all over Heartopia! It’s a winter-only thing, and honestly, it’s pretty neat. It changes how everything looks – the environment, the animals, and even I noticed my character had a frosty look to them!

If your character gets Frostspore Infection, a snowflake icon will show up on your screen to let you know it’s happening. This icon means the infection is currently active.

How to Unlock the Frostbitten Skin in Heartopia

To get the Frostbitten Skin, you need to get the Frostspore Infection buff six days in a row. Each day, the buff must stay active for at least one minute. The game checks if you do this consistently, so you’ll need to spend some time outside in the cold daily to unlock the skin.

The Frostbitten Skin changes your character’s skin to a blue color, creating a cool, wintery look.

Just walking around in the snow doesn’t guarantee you’ll get infected. Frostspore Infection is more likely to start in Heartopia at certain locations. Here’s where to watch out:

  • One reliable spot is near the Fishing Village, particularly around the eastern entrance just across the Giantwood River bridge.
  • Another effective area is around Onsen Mountain, especially beneath the bridge leading toward the ruins, where the cold seems to intensify.
  • The Center of Town can also trigger the buff, specifically on the road that runs between Residential Street and Art Street.

Once you find one of these spots, remain there until you see the snowflake icon appear—you only need to get this buff once each day, so staying longer than a minute won’t help. If you trigger the Frostspore Infection six days in a row, you’ll automatically unlock the Frostbitten Skin.
